Heartbeat Heard for the First Time!!!

We had our check up at the 13 week, 4 day mark. This is our first child and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. SO EXCITING and AMAZING! Doc said the heartbeat was roughly 160 and strong. Tried to tell husband that the heartbeat isn't an indicator of gender but that's not stopping him from listening to all of his friends who say it will be a girl. (We will be happier either way, just want him or her to be healthy!)

Our next appt will put us past the 18 week mark to determine the gender. Is everyone else going to find out before the birth? Biggrin

Congrats on baby #1!!

Hearing the HB is like music to my ears The first time we heard my son's HB it was about 160. Then it was always 130s or 140s. The old wives tale was true for us when I hit the 2nd trimester. Smile

I won't be finding out the gender until I have about 4-6 weeks to go (so Sept or Oct). My husband is deployed and I wanna wait until he's back to find out the gender since this should be our last baby. He wasn't there when I found out DD2 was a girl (he was at work and couldn't get off work to come to the u/s), but he was so excited when he got to be there for finding out with our son, so I wanna try to make him part of this pregnancy as much as possible since he won't be back until I'm about 7 1/2 - 8 months. I will find out in July probably and have the tech put the gender in a folder. Ha ha sorry, i'm just excited!

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat!! It is such a wonderful sound! My LO had a high heartbeat this time too so my mom thinks it's a girl, but I'm pretty sure both boys did too Wink
We are definitely finding out the gender. My OB owns his own practice and basically lets you get an ultrasound anytime you want so I'm guessing we will probably be able to find out before the 20 week appt. My DH and I have decided that if that happens (b/c he probably won't be at the appt until 20 weeks) that I will just have them put it in an envelope so we can see it together!
Katie- I am thinking it's going to be hard for me to have restraint to not open the envelope until DH gets home from work that evening (but I'll do it), so I'm super impressed that you'll wait until 7.5-8 months! I don't know how people do it and not find out!

I've wondered how people don't find out too haha. I like to be able to prepare! But we still have all of my son's baby clothes and some for a girl from my daughter's so that's good hah.

When I asked people how they can stay on team green some said they feared that they would be disappointed in the gender at the scan if they were really hoping for a certain one, but that once you give birth, you're happy with either. Smile

I'd like another boy just to even things out, but I also know more about girls lol. Either way, I just hope for a healthy baby

OMG, you have patience Katie!!! I do understand, however, I am in the military and my husband used to be, so we totally get trying to save those special moments until a deployment is over.

1stbabyboy, that is so awesome that you have an OB like that...this being my first if I start feeling normal, I start thinking, "...is everything okay in there?!" ...hahaha

So excited!!!!!!

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat! It is the best sound!

We found out gender about 2 weeks ago because we did the free cell DNA test (Panorama). It's a girl!
