So who's planning on finding out the flavour?

Who's planning on finding out the flavour of baby before birth?

We've been chatting about this as we're booked in for the Harmony Test and one of the things it offers is gender... I really want a birth day surprise this time, but DH says he doesn't like gender neutral clothes and accessories and wants to find out beforehand, even if we don't tell anyone until baby is born. Personally don't see the point of finding out and not telling people, so it's an ongoing discussion here of do we or don't we. DH rarely asks anything of me though, so I suspect if he's that stuck on finding out then we probably will do so.

How about everyone else?

"flavour" lol...never heard it called that before. Cute.

We didn't find out with our first two. We decided we do want to find out this time. I'm excited!! I want to test out that nub theory, too. Apparently, the 'angle of the dangle' that can be seen at the 12 week nuchal scan can give a hint.

I love the nub theory! It's been right for me with all my kids that we've been able to see a nub with!

We're having the Harmony test. So I'm having a blood test and viability scan at 10+4 weeks and then a follow up nuchal scan with the results at 13 weeks. They could tell us at my 13 week appointment, but I just don't know. I think we probably will because DH wants to know.

Our first two were surprises because dh wanted it that way and I complied because he was sooooo adamant about it. This one will be a surprise as well unless it's twins (not that I think it is) because then I really wanna know!

:lurk:
I think you should have it be a surprise! I've always wanted to leave it until birth and DH has always refused. LO almost cooperated last time. If it hadn't been for the PP and all the extra scans it would have been a surprise (found out the the very end of a scan at 28w, baby hid it until then.) The doc did say probably boy based on the nub at 12w, but I wasn't going to count on that. If we have another maybe I can finally talk DH into waiting.

I would really like the surprise. The thing is I'd really like the surprise so long as nobody mentions in the delivery room what it is and let's me see for myself. I'd be gutted if I'd waited all those weeks to have some annoying midwife or Ob blurt it out before I got to see for myself, and considering they don't take a blind bit of notice of what you say here I can almost guarantee that's what will happen.

I'm so tempted though. I've found a load of cute gender neutral stuff over the last few days, and the stroller I want is gender neutral too and we probably won't deck out the nursery before the birth because we've got remodelling going on and the older kids new bedrooms are more important as baby will co-sleep with us for at least a few months. We don't normally move the youngest out of our room until they're a year old, so it'd be kind of pointless kitting out the nursery when baby won't go in it for the first year! LOL

I'm going to speak to DH and my midwife. If my midwife can be there for the birth, I know she'll make sure nobody says a word, so I'll be fairly confident having the surprise. I'll just be really (stupidly) sad if I've waited all that time and then some loud-mouthed member of staff ruins it for me.

That said, if it's twins I'll definitely be finding out! LOL Buying gender neutral for one baby is easy, I wouldn't want to do it for two! Blum 3
