Hitting and Pulling hair

any suggestions in discipling this? Reed mostly does this only to me when he doesn't want to do something (go to school, go to bed, leave the pool)

Alicia hits when she is mad. I hold her hands. Its hard...she is speech delayed so she has trouble saying what she needs to and lashes out in frustration. I find "time ins" where I sit close to her and hold her hands and speak softly to her work better than time outs when she is frustrated.

Ethan hits, pinches, pulls hair, etc. when he is trying to get our attention. I tell him no and that he needs to be gentle. I have been doing that since he was really little so now when I tell him that he will do something gentle such as give a hug or rub my arm. Sometimes he will say sorry but I don't think he understand what that really means yet.

Richie hits and throws things when he's mad. I take both of his hands in mine, get on his level, look right in his eyes and say calmly and firmly "No hitting. Hitting hurts mommy. No hitting" or "No throwing. Throwing things when you're mad is not okay." It usually stops immediately. Sometimes he starts crying and I just hold him and reassure him that I love him and it's just that behavior that was not okay. He calms down quickly.
