Hi, apparently a newborn in Texas set a new record when he came out of the womb weighing 16 lbs. Holy Mackerel. Thank goodness for cesareans. The link to the story is here: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/437108...ng_and_family/
I hope it works for those who are interested.
They have been talking about that on the news every day here! Everybody has been loving to quote our favorite phrase too "Everything is bigger in TX!" LOL! I just can't believe the doctors did not do a c-section sooner. They told her the week before that he could be a 13 lb baby!

Wow! Looks like it was the fault of gestational diabetes.
There are pics of him in the article. He is what we endearingly term a "chunky little monkey." Still cute but I would have been a little upset that the docs waited that long, too. Why wait that long? Poor guy and poor Mom. But kuddos to Mom. She must be a warrior.
I would have loved to see what she looked like before she gave birth. Can't imagine how big that belly would be carrying a 16 lb. baby!

I know exactly what it's like to carry 16lbs worth of baby and it's HORRIBLE. When I delivered the twins at 37 weeks (induced) they were 7.8lbs and 7.7lbs. This isn't including the weight of the placentas and amniotic fluid... the doctors said I had over 22lbs worth of "baby stuff" in there. I spent the last 6 weeks sleeping in a chair upright as I couldn't breathe if I laid down in bed... the swelling was so bad I could barely hear and none of my shoes fit and I had to go to the hospital in slippers.
Here's a pic... I was only smiling because I knew they were coming OUT!! LOL I feel bad for that woman.... any woman with multiples, it's super hard. When I delivered I was measuring 56 weeks... the doctor said enough was enough!
