Baby Clothes

So, is anyone else thinking that our kiddos are going to be born during weird weather time? I know in south Alabama it's still going to be warm-ish (cool evenings, warm days) at the beginning of October. But mid-October we're moving to north Tennessee and it's going to be much cooler there and will get progressively colder throughout the winter months. I'm a bit stuck on what to buy baby.

I'm thinking a few short sleeve onesies and one pieces, a few long sleeve/pants one pieces that are thinner, and a few heavier items? It's so weird because during the time he will be wearing 0-3 month size clothes he will go from warm summer/early fall weather to outright snowy winter!

Just looked at south Alabama's average temps in October and they are high of 79, low of 52. 52 degrees is chilly. Tennessee's averages are 72 and 45. 45 is COLD! lol

I'm in central Texas.......it's still hotter than hades here in Oct. DS#4 was born Nov 16th and we still got use of short sleeves/thin pants for several weeks.....and I didn't buy much newborn or 0-3 month stuff with him. Thank goodness as he was in 3-6 month stuff by 6 weeks old.

Even way up here in Northeast Nebraska it gets wierd in October but will get much cooler once mid November hits. I remember the last time we lived here it was pretty warm (for here) around Halloween. Haven't given it too much thought though. If this baby is like my daughter, I'll need newborn sizes to start with, so I may get short sleeves with pants for newborn sizes and then for wintry outfits go with 0-3. Abby didn't really fit into 0-3 months clothes until she was 3 months old!

I was just thinking the same thing. I have all my boy clothes from DS, but he started out in summer clothes, so I think I wll have to get some winter sleepers. When the baby is born it still might be nice outside so I'll just use some clothes from DS.

I have thought about this too! In VA, it's hot and cold depending on the day in October. If this baby is another girl, I have plenty of girl stuff for the warmer months, so I'd just buy some colder weather stuff. If it's a boy, I will have to buy all new things, so I guess I'd get some summer and some colder things.

We have similar weather here in October, warm days and chilly nights. I got so much from my baby shower with DS1 I'm not really worried about it getting much else. Except of course the stuff I can't resist buying! Half the things I got were wrong season and he could never wear, I figure that will work out perfectly this time! So I think your idea of getting a mix is right on! When they're tiny, it's always easy to throw a warm blanket on them too :).

It is cold here so I usually do short sleeve onesies and then sweater something warmer over the top.

Our temps average between 40 and 60 all year long regardless of season so it is pretty much wierd weather all the time! LOL! We just do lots of layering. Even when it is nice we usually wear hats to the beach because the wind is always cold.

Depending on the year we can have everything from +15 to -25 and three feet of snow on the ground in October. My plan is lots of sleepers and long sleeved onsies, and warm blankets to put on top of the car seat when we go out.

:lurk:

My daughter Charlotte was born last October and I definitely recommend a mix of stuff. We live in Michigan (aka Wonky Weather Capital of The World) and I just bought half stuff off summer clearance and half stuff off the first winter racks.

It was 80 degrees when we brought her home, but 2 days later when we took her for a check up it was 45 so I was definitely glad we had a nice mix LOL. I think I still have my old shopping list if anyone would like it Biggrin
