Thread: Breaking the bottle habit....

Anyone else trying to break the habit by 1 year? I have bought some sippy cups, but she just gets made at them. She's a lazy baby and uses the drop in bottle an just sucks up til the stuff comes out. Also we started water at night and that is going great!!

We're doing sippy cups at meals. I will hopefully have him off bottles at one or soon after.

Which one are you using, we tried tipee tom, but it's a slow process

My son doesn't seem to like the ones with handles, so I got several without. He seems to like the NUBY ones best. I got the NUBY 6+ month ones.

I haven't actually given it much thought. Kessler doesn't go to sleep by drinking a bottle, so I don't really thing it's going to be hard to transition him. The binkie/pacie will be difficult, but since he only gets them at nap and bedtime, I'll worry about that later.

I also like the Nuby ones. Easy to clean! Haven't really tried to break him from the bottle yet though. Infact, haven't even thought about it!

My guy takes a bottle at daycare. He's never been a big fan of them, though, and will generally only drink half of what he usually does, so I don't think breaking him of the bottle will be a problem. I don't think breaking him of the breast will be an issue, either. The big problem is that he seems unable to figure out how the heck to use a sippy cup and much prefers drinking from our glasses. Unfortunately, this is really messy--every time he does this. So, any assistance in training a baby on how to use a sippy cup would be appreciated. He thinks they're just really great teethers.

DD takes a bottle at daycare and sippy cups at home during snack or dinner. She is still nursing most of the time though so she doesn't take a bottle at home. When she gets moved to the Toddler I room in a couple of months at daycare, they automatically transition them to sippy cup. My son was FF so had nothing but the bottle and I just took it away the day he turned one and he never asked for it again.

Well Jessica takes a sippy at dc, but not at home. I'm going to steal one that they use...
