For the breastfeeding moms out there, something interesting ...
I was getting my hair cut Thursday, and the hair stylist asked me if I was going to dye my hair. A little background for you--I'm gray as a mule even though I'm 34. I'm always asked why I don't dye my hair. Even though I know there are absolutely no reports out that show the chemical hair dye is bad for a breastfeeding baby, I just can't bring myself to take that risk. So, I explained this to the hair stylist. She gave me the whole, "Chemicals in the hair dye won't affect the quality of your beastmilk" talk, but then she added, "However, it might affect your breastmilk supply." Has anyone heard of this? I found it very interesting.
Incidentally, I did dye my hair this Sunday with a henna hair dye called Surya. It's more expensive than the other do-it-yourself chemical hair dyes, but this doesn't stink to the high heavens, it isn't toxic, and it covered my gray really well. I have a nice even brown hair color right now. I was just so sick and tired of being gray-headed.
