Update: the fetal fibronectin test came back negative! So Sophia will not be making an appearance in the next week or two. We of course cannot ignore the contractions and thinning of my cervix so I still have to rest when I can and take it easy. This just means DH will have kick it in gear and help me get everything ready since it is likely that she will be here in the next 6 weeks. I go back to the doctor on August 8th. I'm pretty sure I will have weekly appt.'s after that.
I thought today would be a boring appt., but after I mentioned that I have been having what feels like contractions off and on since last week, everything went into a frenzy! My doctor was concerned since I have had pre-term labor before and thought it'd be best to check me. My cervix hasn't dilated, but has thinned out some. She also went ahead and did my Group B Strep test and Fetal Fibronectin test which will show whether I'm in pre-term labor or not. The results should be in tomorrow and if it's positive, then that completely changes everything. They monitored me for about 30 minutes and saw that I was having contractions, two of which I could feel. The other's were too small to notice. She prescibed me medication to stop the contractions. I have been ordered to rest and take it easy the rest of my pregnancy. I'm not on complete bed rest so I can still go to work, but my normal household chores and taking care of DS, will have to all be done by DH now. Her goal is to get me to at least 36 weeks so cross your fingers that this little girl is not in a hurry to get here like her big brother was!!
