Thread: Diapers and Sizes?

Anyone buy diapers yet? Preferences? I used Pampers Swaddlers last time with DS and loved how soft they were. When he got bigger, I liked Huggies for overnights because they held more.

I found a great deal at Target if you buy 2 big boxes for $35. You can get $20 Giftcard. You can also use manufactures coupon and get it even cheaper. Problem is I don't know what size to get? I already have a small pack newborn diapers. I'm wondering if I should buy 2 boxes of size 1 (360 diapers) or if I should get a size 1 and 2 Just in case he grows out of size 1. I can't remember how long my DS stayed in each size and I don't want to waste them. I don't know the weight on each size either. I think last time I just bought small packs every week instead of buying in bulk.
What are you ladies doing?

We have always used Huggies. I'm actually okay with Target cheapies but DH doesn't like them.

I don't have a preference in which 'type' of Huggies I get. I do like their pure and natural. They're SO soft!

I'm planning on *for now* getting a bag of newborn and a box of size 1. I'll go out and buy more once I figure out how big Owen is

I honestly haven't bought any, but I have diapers from what other people have bought me. I use pamper swaddlers too. I have 4 packs of NB diapers (up to 10 lbs), 7 cases of number 1 (8-14 lbs), and 2 cases of number 2 (12-18 lbs.). I'm pretty sure that I have way too many number 1's, but you can always return them if you don't open the box.

I love Pampers Newborn and so far have one pack and one pack of Size 1. We had way too many diapers with Clara and I was stressed to get through them so this time I'm not stocking up so much. I don't care for Huggies I find they always leak.

I just have what people have gotten me.......my cousins 6 month old is already in 5s so I have a bunch of opened packages from her ranging from newborn-3's. At my baby shower I got 3 packs of 1's and a pack of 2's. And then my mom got me a box of the pampers prints size 1-2.

With COle we NEVER used newborn diapers and he was 8 lbs 12 oz so I haven't gotten any newborn. I have a package from my cousin that has like 3 out of it in case.

I'd get a box of ones and a box of twos. But that's just me .

I love swaddlers! They're so soft and don't leave the elastic marks all over their little thighs. I got a small pack of 1s so far and don't plan on stocking up any more than that. With DD I got a pack of newborns and she was really too big for them, she was 8-13. I used them anyway because they're expensive . But this time I won't buy NB and if he needs them I'll just pick a pack up. After the swaddlers I used huggies with DS and pampers with DD (when I wasn't using a CD). In my experience the fit difference is that huggies are better for chubbier babies and pampers are better for skinnier babies. Because pampers were never wide enough for DS and huggies were always so wide and bunchy between her legs they didn't stay put. Funny how different kids can be shaped so differently.

Sitting in star bucks using there wifi lol I have always used Huggies as DD# 1 had a really bad reaction to pampers diapers when she was born. I have one pack of newborn Huggies I had a coupon for so they were free. Waiting to order my bum genius reusable ones as soon as I am online long enough to see who has the best deal. Prob need to get another pack of newborn and one pack of size 1's. For the first couple of weeks anyway. Baby is 5lbs roughly now and on track to be about 9lbs or so they say. So maybe more size 1's instead of newborns lol

I love pampers. Especially the swaddler. For DD, She was in size 1 for a very very long time. So personally I would be getting two packs of size one if you already have some newborn. Having said that, she was 7lbs 2 oz at birth and only gained 1 lb or less per month for the entire year, so at 6 months she was still only about 11 -12 lbs.

DS was in Pampers Swaddlers newborn for a while, then stayed in sz 1 for about the same time. DS was real small so he didn't have much of a growth spurt..hell he's still in 4's!! He should be out soon, but they still fit him. And for DS I stayed with Pampers because he leaked through every other diaper I tried!

Lots of good advice! It's true that every kid is different and may need a different kind of diaper. I didn't even think about being able to return the diapers if I had an unopened box. I guess I'll just get some of each and see where he ends up. It's to good of deal to pass up. Otherwise I would just buy what he needs at the time.
The Babies R US brand is good too. I use those for DS for night when he goes to bed. They hold a ton!
