the dreaded bathing suit

So what's everyone's plans for bathing suits? I braved the bikini the other day in the backyard. Even all alone I felt wierd - especially since I currently don't have a true baby bump. Last pregnancy I never needed to worry about this, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. The pool will be opening soon and I plan to be there as much as possible with Abby during the Summer.
There just aren't many cute/affordable choices that I've seen in the maternity bathing suit world. Kind of thinking about just finding a regular tankini and just getting a bigger top. IDK. Thoughts? Anyone worn a maternity suit before?

I had a maternity tankini last pregnancy and loved it. Sadly I got rid of it Sad I need to go shopping for a new one as we go away in 2 weeks. I did think about a non maternity one in a bigger size. But I was already chesty and they have gotten bigger so not sure buying a bigger size will work for me lol

I decided not to buy a maternity swimsuit. I will bare all this year! LOL
I figure it's not against the law to show your baby bump and I am sure people enjoy looking at it too, but if you are self concious and don't want eveyone looking, I would definitely cover up! Sorry I'm not much help!

I'm rockin a bikini this year!! I think baby bumps are adorable, so I'm showing mine off! I tried on my suit the other night and I just need a WAY bigger top! We aren't really going anywhere else besides to the in-laws house to swim so I'm gonna try it until I get uncomfortable!

LOL if it wasn't for horrendous stretch marks I would do a bikini too, but as we are going on vacation and I will be wearing it in public. I don't want to scare people lol

I bought a maternity tankini from Motherhood. If I didn't have stretch marks from DS then I would totally be rockin a bikini!

I have a maternity tankini but I usually wear a bikini. I got one with a much larger top a couple years ago when BF.

I just bought a tankini from Motherhood Maternity at one of their outlet stores. It wasn't terribly expensive. I'm going to be in Vegas in August, so I know I'll need one with LOTS of coverage. They had several cute designs.

well if it weren't for the stretch marks I wouldn't think twice about the bikini. I'd just go with it. Either way I've got to get a new one. The top was always tight and now it's going to be way too tight. Maybe bikini for the backyard and maternity tankini for the public pool

I don't wear a bikini anymore pregnant or not. Biggrin Honestly, as pale as I am right now, I will probably end up scaring anyone that sees me.

I have a maternity tankini that I purchased last time and I plan to wear it again. I got it at Motherhood. It isn't the best suit ever but it looked nice on, was comfortable and I found it to be reasonably priced. I'm... let's say... well gifted in the top section. Controlling the "girls" is a MUST for any bathing suit I wear.

Heck I haven't worn a bikini since ohhhhhhhhhhhhh 2nd grade...lmao. Trust me THIS wouldn't be cute in a bikini preg or not. I had one I got a few yrs ago when I was bigger that was "shorts' and a top that is fitted inside but baggy on the outside.....Last yr it was way to big so I bought just a boy short bottom at Walmart so thats what I got. That said we have a pool in our backyard so thats likely the only place I have to worry about wearing it...

I just wear a sports bikini, and a stretched out sports suit on top, don't really care about how I look, guess its way too many years teaching swimming.

As you can tell in my siggy... We are a pale bunch (and my kids are half Mexican lol), so we don't do a great deal of swimming and when we do, I cover up as much as possible. I wear a maternity tank top and board shorts under the bump. It also covers my bengal tiger looking tummy, I'm covered in stretch marks from my last two. That also allows me to wear a bra, bathing suit tops can never contain my upper section lol.

Bikini all the way baby, except when I'm going to be around my Grandmama or DH's grandma. I bought a cute maternity tankini for that Smile But otherwise I have a cute polka dot bikini that I wear. In Hawaii, EVERYONE wears bikini's whether they 'should' or not and seeing a preggo in a bikini is something I honestly don't think a single person would even look twice at Dirol

This is my maternity swim suit:

That's the one I was thinking about getting. I hope they have it next week when I go shopping. If I lived in Savannah still I would probably just wear the bikini. It's a coastal city, but I live in the middle of the us now. Just seems odd to me since I grew up on the coast. Maybe out at the lake I'll feel more comfortable in the bikini.

I'm gonna show this gut off!!! With Zara I wasn't really showing bc she was a Jan baby. I don't like bikini bottoms so I will go with either shorts or beach shorts that match my top Smile

I have a bikini and am really proud of my bump, but I may be embarrassed of my pale, ghostly skin. If so I will probably buy a maternity top on one of our vacations since there always seems to be a better selection at the beach.
