Feedings

So how far apart are your feeding with your LO? And is it formula or breast? Abby stretched hers out a lot faster than kessler seems to be. Just wondering. We've finally gotten to where it's no less than 3 hours apart during the day, and at least once a day he'll go 4 hours...but I would love to be on a more consistant schedule. Just don't remember when that actually happens since Abby is now 5.

As Callan had issues gaining weight I was not allowing him to go more than 3 hours during the day, I think even now he has only gone more than that two or maybe three times. Pretty sure his weight is fine now but still feed him often, basically if he cries and his diaper is ok then I feed him lol he never turns me down. If we are home he will not usually go more than 2 hours but if we go out and he falls asleep in the car seat or stroller then he will go at least 3 then I wake him. I am thinking about letting him go longer than that I dunno. Still working my way upto to getting him off formula so don't want my already compromised milk supply to dwindle. He has gone from having 2 formula bottles a day to only one partial formula bottle so we are almost there Smile

I don't keep track much, but i know it's no more than 4 hours. He has about a 6 hour stretch at night, and that's the longest. I'm pretty sure none of mine went longer than 4 hours ever, possibly 5 when they were past 6 months old. I nurse on demand though and don't really keep a schedule. If I had to guess it would be approximately 7:00am and another 2 times before noon. Then another time around 3, then again around 5, again around 7, around 8/9 then he goes to bed usually. He wakes up at 4:30 and 6:30/7 to eat and starts over. Usually I can get him to sleep again after he wakes up at 6:30/7. That seems to be about what I remember (or better) from my other two. I know my first nursed ALL.THE.TIME until she weaned. My second wasn't as interested and cut back around 7/8 months I think.

Usually it's every 2ish hours during the day, although if I can get us out for a walk at the exact right time she'll have a 4 hour nap in the middle of the day. At night it's normally every 3 hours, although she is starting to stretch that out.

Sophia still eats every 2 hours, but at night it's every 1 to 1.5 hours and she sleeps through the night (most of the time). At daycare, she can go as long as 3-4 hours, but she is also getting bottles with both formula and BM. Still working on trying to get rid of the formula, but I still haven't been able to catch up. She just eats more than I'm able to produce. Sad

During the day Markus nurses every 1-2 hours and we nurse 1/2 a side. He'll go for longer stretches if he's in the stroller or carseat but not more than 3 or 4 hours. He sleeps from 10:30pm-6am but sometimes wakes at 4am to nurse.

Ok so a steady every 3 hrs is actually pretty decent then. at night he will cluster feed and then sleep "through the night" but he's been fighting a cold so he's been waking up again more often.

David wants to eat every 2 to 2 1/2 hours during the day. Occasionally, he will go three hours. At night, he has a five hour spread and a four hour spread. What about length per breast? Sometimes I get a total of 15 minutes overall. Sometimes 20.

Sarah eats every two hours during the day if she's with me. She's at daycare from 7:00 - 4:00ish and only takes two bottles of breast milk while she's there. At night she usually goes to bed around 10:00ish and gets up around 6:00. Sometimes there is a feeding at around 4:00am.

The first two days she went to daycare, she was WORN OUT and slept from 9:00ish to 6:00ish! It was a nice night.

I have never had anursing session last longer than 15 minutes, except a cluster feed. As they get older they get far more efficient at nursing. Annabelle at about 6 months could drain both sides in 5 minutes flat.

It's not uncommon for Markus to spend one hour per breast... all I'm doing is lactating!

Lately Caleb has been nursing every hour or hour and a half. I think he's beginning his 3 month growth spurt though. He never goes longer than 2 hours during the day, not even before/after a growth spurt. I don't mind at all though because he has been sleeping well at night. My first DS slept well at 2 months too, then stopped the day he hit 3 months lol. My fingers are crossed Caleb continues this. DD didn't STTN ONCE until she was well over a year old.

Paula- Caleb nurses about 10-15 minutes at a time too.

the time for us varies, but lately there's times where he nurses 10 minutes and isn't interested in nursing anymore so he only eats on one side. I make A LOT of milk, so I think he just gets full before I can switch. Average now is about 15 minutes though unless it's an early morning feed when he's half asleep and he'll stay there for 30 minutes.

To be honest, I'm not really sure??? I just go about my day and when he shows signs that he's hungry, he gets fed. I do know that if we go out somewhere though, he will go at least 2 hours. I had a dentist appointment the other day, and I did some shopping afterwards (I left all the kiddos including Aidan with dad). I was gone for 3 hours and he did fine (didn't need to be fed) while I was away. He is starting to get a nice long stretch at night which is awesome. He is going about 8 hours without a feed. I've NEVER had one do that well this early.
