Everyone tells me that I should start looking at child care for my son as soon as possible because I may have to be placed on a waitlist. So I began the arduous process of sifting through all of the child care centers and providers out there. A couple of things are already ticking me off.
1. Child care is soooooooo expensive! I knew this before, but it seems like providers and centers are really sticking it to those people with infants.
2. Why won't anyone offer part time care for infants? Isn't this the stage when most parents want to be at home with their kids as much as possible? I have a job that is full time, but there are two days a week I could potentially work from home. So, obviously, I'm looking for care for MWF. Everyone says, "We don't provide part time care for newborns." But they offer it for 2 year olds and 3 year olds and 4 year olds--those children who most benefit from socialization instead of infants who should be home, if at all possible, bonding with their parents.
Ughhh. Sorry for the rant. Any advice? I know many people would suggest family, but I have no family living near me. All the women I know work everyday of the week like I do.
