For Owen:

ummm...wow...lol

I have nothing for myself packed but all I will pack is a couple prs of panties, some of my own pads( for after the first day when I'll use the hospital stuff), toothpaste, toothbrush, brush, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, since the clothes I wear to the hospital will only be worn for the 20 min it takes me to get there I will just wear them home as well, camera, phone, and phone charger...

for baby girl I will just leave her in the hospital shirt thingy until its time to come home that way if she pees. poops, spits up I dont have to worry about it. I have her 2 outfits packed (one newborn and one 0-3 months) and alight blanket just in case.....thats it.

Well, that does sound like a lot to me. Here is my list.
*Some stuff that I cant put in right now I have on a list that is inside the bag so DH and I can just look at it when I go into labor and gather all the things without having to think too much about what we need.

3 nightgowns(I hate to wear their gowns and the blood comes out with hydrogen peroxide)
My favorite sweater(I froze during labor both times)
one pair socks
couple nursing pads and big menstual pads(just for the drive home since they have them there)
go home outfit for me
go home outfit for Kai and a warm snuggly sleeper in case it is cold
Carseat base is installed, the seat is in the trunk
Have 4 towels in the back of the car to put in my seat in case I am leaking
1 pair underware to wear home
hair straightener
toiletries bag with makeup and contact stuff
camera and extra batteries
cell phones and chargers
New pacifiers
Gifts from my boys for the baby(a stuffed hippo and a new soft blankie)
A list of phone numbers for my SIL to call to update people on my progress. I dont want to have to be calling people while I am in labor.
My boys dont need much since they are staying with a friend with kids but they have a bag of just the clothes they will need for 3 days while they are there. They will have their new "big brother" shirts in there and a new bag of diapers for DS2. Oh and their special pillows and blankets.
One burp cloth(I use receiving blankets) for the ride home.
A few diapers and wipes for Kai.
My hypnobirthing CD and some other easy listening type music

I dont take swaddle blankets or clothes for baby while at the hospital since they have them there. They will also have all the pads, disposable underware and nursing pads that I will need during my stay. *Ask them if you have already paid for all that kind of stuff that is in the cabinets in your room. My Mom is an OB nurse and she said that they have to replace all that personal stuff even if you havent used it so you might as well take it home with you. I love the disposable underware for at home for the few days afterwards. Oh and make sure you get some of that spray pain killer stuff, it does wonders for numbing down there, especially if you have stitches, maybe even ask for an extra can to take home, that stuff was a lifesaver for me!
Oh and if they have a hot tub(or birthing tub) for you to use make sure your DH takes his swim trunks so he can go in with you(the nurses are fine with naked women but not men). With my other pg I couldnt get in before labor since my water had broken but it was amazing after delivery!

Yeah I need to call the hospital and see what all they provide for me (as far as pads, nursing pads, etc etc because if they provide that stuff then I'll most likely not take my own). Also make sure they provide diapers. I'm sure they do, but you never know lol

OH and I'm glad you said something about the spray pain stuff. I didn't have that last time, but I did bring home 3-4 extra of those bottle thingies you use when you go to the bathroom. Life-freaking-savers!!! Gotta remember to smuggle some of those home too lol

I'm a light packer like Amanda. For me, I'm bringing a change of clothes and toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo & conditioner, lotion, chapstick). For Caleb I'm bringing 2 coming home outfits (nb & 0-3 just to be safe), 2 sleepers (again nb and 0-3), 2 receiving blankets(one for swaddling one for a nursing cover) and a pacifier. Even with my c-sections I left within 48 hours so I don't need much while I'm there. Oh of course I'm bringing my purse which has make up, my phone and my camera, etc. The hospital provides all the post partum care stuff and diapers/wipes for baby.

I'm a minimalist.
For labor, I have some baby oil gel for back rubs (saved my life last time), and lip balm.
For Gillian, I have nb diapers (hospital only supplies 1st one), recieving blankets (dd got a bad rash from the hospital ones), a nb and a 0-3 sleeper.
For myself, I have pads, and some undies. I'll wear home what I wore in, unless I get it dirty, in which case dh can just grab me something. I don't mind wearing hospital gowns while in the hospital.
Car seat is in the car, and phone and camera are in my purse.

nursing tanks (2), socks with the grippies on them (2) comfy pants (2...I'll wear one pair into the hospital) and then the shirt I wear to the hospital. probably some underwear "in case" but I haven't used it yet. So I'll probably just pack 2.
brush, toothbrush/toothpaste
camera bag/laptop .. DH will have this though, I won't have to worry about it much
phone & charger

baby gown, going home outfit, a few blankets, pacifier.

I'll probably bring my yarn bag to crochet too, just in case but I don't plan on needing it.

I realized I borught to much stuff. My hospital provided almost everything and I felt like it was a pain to unpack everything when I got home. I would definitely suggest bringing your own tylenol or pain reliver because it takes awhile to get it at the hospital.
