how many oz?

For those that are formula feeding or pumping, how any ounces is your LO consuming during a feeding? Just curious because I am wanting to get Kessler on bottles and I have no clue what they are drinking at this point. I can remember from 5 years ago where abby was at this point. I've screwed myself though. I should have been keeping up with offering bottles more often because he would at leat take one when offered, but now he's def. all about the boob and just plays with the nipple of a bottle. ::sigh:: I'm ready for it, but I know he's not. I don't want it to be traumatic, but I feel like by the time he's 6 months, I want to at least have him taking 1 bottle a day so I can slowly transition the both of us.

Sophia is eating 4 oz. at daycare every 3-4 hours. She was eating 5 oz., but I think she was going through a growth spurt at the time. This is a good site to determine how many oz. You just put in the baby's weight and it tells you how many oz to feed based on the weight. http://www.justmommies.com/articles/formula-feeding-calculator.php

Gillian usually takes 2 2.5 oz bottles within an hour, so 5 oz total. (DH splits it up so that if she doesn't finish, he's not wasting the rest because it takes me 3 sessions to get the 5.)

I'll admit that Caleb has never had a bottle. But I did pump for the first time the other day. It was about 2 hours after I put him down for the night. I pumped just under 8 oz and my breasts didn't feel as empty as they are after he has eaten. So I figure he eats 8oz or more every 2-3 hours during the day. I was pretty surprised he ate that much but I guess he got to 22lbs at 4 months somehow, thank god I nurse or we'd go broke buying formula!

I have been pumping bottles since 4 months just so Nicholas would keep taking a bottle plus he seems to like it better. I usually pump about 16 oz during the day but he still nurses at night so I am not sure what he is getting at night.
Keep trying with the bottle or have someone else feed him the bottle.

thanks girls...I did try to have DH feed him the other night but Kessler just chewed on the nipple. I'll keep offering.

Maybe he wasn't very hungry when you tried the bottle? Nicholas never eats very good for anyone else even though he is used to a bottle. If you need to go out and are gone during a feeding he may not want to eat until you get back and cluster feed or he will be really hungry and eat. It's really hard to make changes in a LO's rountine!

bought a different bottle. He'll take about 1/2 to 1 ounce before protesting so at least there's progress!

You could also go straight to a sippy cup at this point. My sisters did that, introduced sippy cups at 6 months, most of my nieces and nephews never had a bottle.

I've heard of this as well but not sure I'm ready for him to be taking a sippy. LOL. it seems like such a big kid thing. He's eaten 3 oz now from it at least once a day so we're getting there. just making it a slow transition for my boobs.
