I can't tell...

if what I'm feeling is contractions or him moving. I *think* it's contractions because it's crampy feeling and it goes and comes (lasts about a minute and I've had several in the past hour or so) but at the same time he's moving ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE. And I'm wondering if he's pushing my bladder or something and that's making it FEEL like a contraction, but it's not really? So darned frustrating.

I'm no help...lol. I have never *known* when I was having contractions. I hope either they get to where you KNOW they are contractions or little man gives you a break on the movement.

That is exactly how I am feeling. I just can't tell. With DS I was just crampy after my water broke, and this is the same kind of feeling. The contractions didn't start to get noticable until later on. I'm sure it's just a sign of things soon to come.

I am having Braxton Hicks contractions, they just started a couple days ago. Real contractions are usually painful and will wrap around your sides to your back. BH are uncomfortable but not exactly painful and more low on your belly. Real contractions also get more painful and regular over time and become longer. If you change position or change activity and they stop then it is probably just BH. BH dont make a change to your cervix. But if you are having more than 3-4 an hour you might want to call your doc.
My Mom is an OB nurse and she tells women to 1)sit down and relax 2)drink lots of fluids.
I think mine started because I have been so sick and am dehydrated.

I was in the same boat until I went in and got checked. Turns out what I thought was LO pushing up against my belly, were actually contractions (it felt like someone was grabbing the center of my tummy). But I've been having those for a while with no change. I'm not even sure how to tell when I'm truly in labor since I've been having regular contractions on and off for a while now. Urgh....why does it have to be so confusing?

I've been having similar feelings. He moves so much. The cramps seem to come from my cervix, though, and his constant banging against it.

yup, Im in the boat too. I'm just in a lot of pain all the time from lots of different things. It is hard to tell which feeling to be worried about. I didn't think I was contracting except for BH, but apparently some of the contractions I have are changing me- hence the being 4cm already.

I've been having a rough weekend again and so we will see if the contractions or pains or whatever they are are changing me or not. I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon.

These are painful and they wrap from my lower back, around my hips, and into my lower stomach. Sometimes only my hips hurt and not my belly. They are getting more painful than they have been (over the course of the past week or so. They've gone from annoying to having to close my eyes and count.) They've slowed down some now but I definitely had more than 3-4 an hour earlier this afternoon. DH went running and I had 3-4 while he was gone. I'm not sure EXACTLY how long that was but it was way less than an hour. I didn't call the doc or go in because by the time I actually sat down and started timing them they tapered off

Gaaaaaaah. This has been going on for a week or two now and it's really frustrating. If he's going to come early I wish he'd come on. Otherwise I wish he'd chill out until after we move lol

Sounds like prodromal labour which I had with my last pregnancy. Contractions that are not comfortable but never really gain in intensity and eventually fizzle out. It's usually associated with a irritable uterus. I am having a lot of BH's and BH/prodromal labour will help dialate/efface your cervix which just makes things go quicker when labour really hits! As much as it sucks it's just our uteruses preparing for the big day Smile

Yup, I am convinced mine is prodromal. It really sucks.
