IUD

Well I officially have an IUD. Everything went smoothly and they even did an ultrasound to check for placement. I am cramping some and bleeding some but were told both were normal. I didn't like how they kept refuring to it as the "10 year" one. I was getting it b/c it was the nonhormonal kind not because it's a 10 year deal. Nurse, U/S tech, and Dr. both acted like it was so final and I must not want kids for a long time. I mean, I think I'm done having kids, but the whole point is that I can have it taken out. Anyways, just needed to have a quick little vent to people who would understand. It did almost make me a little sad, so I'm glad I'm not doing anything permanent, but very happy not to have to take hormones.

I'm glad everything went smoothly!! I had the Mirena put in about 7 months before we decided to have another. I thought I was done, but 7 months later we changed our mind so I was happy we didn't do anything permanent. We got pregnant just 3 months after removal. The removal is far less painful than the insertion. I cramped for a couple of days after the insertion. I loved my IUD! I did get yeast infections (TMI) a lot while I had it, but not sure if it was from the IUD or not though. I would get it again if DH wasn't considering a vasectomy.

Glad to know it smoothly! I need to make my appt to get mine.

yeah I made my appointment before I left the dr. for my postpardum checkup. I knew it would never get done if I didn't do it then. I'm horrible about calling to make appointments of any kind. I've needed a haircut for about 4 months now.

I'm horrible about remembering to make appts to. My dr doesn't do iud insertions (he's a family dr), so he asked me at my 6 week appt to phone the group that I nsaw during pregnancy to see if they will do it, and if not he will refer me to a gyn to have it done. Hopefully I can get it soon, before dh and I get carried away ... we both hate condoms and I refuse to use bcps anymore.

Glad it went well. I'm waiting for my paraguard to come in. Last time we had the Mirena but this time we're going to try the paraguard first as the doctor says it's easier to get the insurance to pay for and it has no hormones. I had a mostly positive experience with the Mirena but I had irregular bleeding/spotting for the first year.

I'm glad it went well :). Its funny, after I had DD people commented like that to me, about how I must be done since I had the perfect one boy and one girl family. It bugged the heck out of me! Now people ask when I'm planning #4 because I can't possibly stop at 3, which also bugs the heck out of me! LOL!
