Default labor? how many weeks? and LO's stats?

So I was just wondering those of us with older kiddos how was your labor? How many weeks were you? and how big was LO? I have been reading birth stories online lately and can't get over how many women have full term babies that are 6 lbs or less with NO complications during pregnancy.....my cousins 1st DS was 5.15 at 39.5 weeks. Maybe I am just one of those women who grow em bigger....lol

I had DS at 34 weeks and he was 5 lbs. 4 oz., 18 3/4 inches long so I really think he would have been a big baby if I went full term. LOL! It all started the weekend before 4th of July. I got up in the morning and felt a trickle of fluid run down my leg. I thought maybe I just peed on myself and thought nothing of it. Several days went by and the leak was constant. Then on 4th of July, I was at a friends house and asked if she had a panty liner. I told her why and she said that maybe my water was broken. Since I was 34 weeks that honestly never crossed my mind. So I called my doctor and she told me to go to the hospital right away. Sure enough I had a leak in my sac and I was dilated to 1 CM. They admitted me and said I would just stay there until I had the baby which could be 2 weeks from now. As long as I had antibiotics pumping in me then I would be fine. That was at 9:00 PM. The nurse gave me an ambien at 2:00 AM to help me sleep and then at 2:30 AM my water fully broke and I started having contractions. DS was born 5 hours later and was rushed to the NICU where he stayed for thankfully only 5 days. Sucked because I was so out of it from the Ambien and epidural that I couldn't even enjoy the experience.

I had DS a week early (I was 39w1d). I had started contractions on Thursday, they were 7-25mins apart till Sunday morning when they got closer and I started vomiting, called the dr and I went in to the hospital at 7am Monday, was 3cm, 45mins later I was 7.5, 30mins later 9 3/4. DS heart rate fell and didn't come back up, rushed into emergency c-sect, DS was born 10:25 at 5lbs 10oz 18 1/2" long. (Ugh so scary!!)

Guess i should answer my own questions.....please don't hate me when you hear about my labor and deliveries

So my ex Dh was stationed in Germany when I was preg with the twins......we had to drive 25 min to Landstuhl for appts since I was High Risk. Anyway was checked at 27weeks and my cervix was still closed up tight, went to make my 28 week appt and they had NOTHING so they made my next one for 29 weeks. 29 week appt the OB asked when was the last time i was checked and I told her at 27 weeks, so she asked if I had felt any contrax or anything and I said no. She decided to check me anyway and was like ARE YOU SURE YOU HAVENT FELT ANYTHING???? I was like ummmm yeah. Anyhow I was 4cm and 75% effaced, so off to L and D I was sent. They started me on Mag to stop contrax that I had no clue I was having but they were registering. After about 24 hours they stopped and I was put on hospital bedrest and gien procardia to keep the contrax away. After about 8 days of the meds my heart started feeling like it was going to beat outta my chest so they stopped the procardia. The next day I went for an NST and both boys looked good. She went ahead and checked me.....I was almost 6cm and 95% effaced...still hadnt felt a thing. So back to L and D I went......I was contracting and had no clue. When I got to about 8 cm they asked if I wanted an epi and I was like what for??? Anyway she said in case I needed an ER section. So they gave me an epi....had it for about 30 min and they had to turn it off cuz I was going numb to high and was having issues breathing. The nurses were making jokes about me not feeling contrax and stuff. Anyway when I was complete the nurses came in and said we weer gonna "practice push". They had to tell me when i was having a contrax and I started to push and IMMEDIATELY was told to STOP and wait til they got me to a delivery room So they got me to delivery and the OB asked about the epi and I told him it had been turned off and I was not numb..so I lifted my whole bottom half off the table using my feet so he would believe me.....Anyhow they told me when I was having my next contraction and I pushed once and baby A was out. They had an US machine to make sure baby B was still head down (which he was) however he was taking advantage of the extra room and had moved back up in to my ribs pretty much. I was given the option of a "breeech extraction" or a section to get baby B out. I opted for the extraction, which just means the OB broke baby Bs sac and then grabbed his feet turned him around and I pushed one more time and he was born. SOOO......
they were born at 31ish weeks on April 29, 1999
BABY A (Kodey) was 4 lbs and 17 1/4 in long
BABY B (Kaleb) was 4.5 lbs and 17.5 in long

WIth DS#3 I didnt find out I was preg until I was almost 6 months along....heck I had 7.5 month old twins at that point I was not expecting a surprise preg. Anyhow I had NO issues with his preg. Went in for an NST at 41 weeks preg and he wasnt as active as they would have liked so they decided to check me. I had felt NO contrax and was 6cm and 75% effaced. L & D was not crowded so they asked if I wanted to go ahead and deliver that day. I refused because the twins were turning ONE the next day (saturday) so we scheduled my induction for Sun morning. Got there at about 11 am they got me hooked up started pit at about noon.....I still wasnt feeling contrax and they weren't getting regular so they kept upping the pit til I was on the HIGHEST dose they can give. I had NO pain meds.....at about 145pm I told them I needed to push, they moved me to a delivery room......started to get things set up, the nurses left the room to get stuff and my midwife turned around to put on gloves and I told her I needed to push, she said go ahead. SOOOO I did and wa slike ummmm hes coming she turned around just in time to catch him before he hit the bed (they hadn't even taken it apart yet) nurses came back in and he was on my chest already......
    DS#3 (Cameron) 41.2 weeks, 8 lbs 5 oz and 22 1/4 in long on April 30, 2000

Found out I was preg on March 13th 2003 just 2 weeks after ex DH left for Iraq........we found out in July that we were finally having a girl. When I went to my 32 week appt I told the CNM that i was having ALOT of pressure and stuff.....she checked me and said i was about 1cm dialated. My next appt at 34 weeks was with an OB, I told her about what I had been feeling and she said it sounded like we had a breech baby...sure enough DD was sitting crossed legged on my cervix. We scheduled an external verison for 38 weeks.......at 36 weeks when exDH got home from work I told him I felt kinda wierd and crampy so I headed to L&D alone.....got there they hooked me up and checked me. Said I was about 2cm. We couldnt dot he version cuz I wasnt term and was "in labor" but they also couldnt go ahead with the section until it was proved that I was truly IN labor.....anyhow 45 min later they checked i was 4cm so they started prepping me for my section....the Ex took the boys to a friends house and came to the hospital.......at 9:49 Pm DD was born via c section
DD born at 36 weeks...6 lb 6.5 oz and 18 inches long
When DD was less than 1 week old I was readmitted to the hospital because my incision was infected. They had to reopen it and pack it with gauze twice a day for 2 weeks. Then I had to go in and have the incision reclosed..DD was almost 4 months old before I was completely healed..

Got preggo with DS#4 the DAY the exDH got home from Iraq in Feb 07.......anyway we found out at 28 weeks that we were having another boy.......I had no issues really. I did have to have a referral with an OB since I was going to try for a VBAC, was told that I had a good chance since I had already delivered 3 babies vaginally (one of which was over 8lbs). However he said the chances decrease a bit if you have to be induced. Went for an NST at 41 weeks and everything looked good, not dialated at all.........scheduled my induction for Nov 16th or 42 weeks. I was still DETERMINED to have a VBAC because of my issues after my c section. Anyway we got a call on Nov 15th at 3 pm to go ahead and com ein for the induction because they werent busy.....so I showered and we headed in. Got me hooked up and checked at about 7ish. I was maybe 3cm at that point. The only place I really "felt" the contrax was right at my incision site (which kinda freaked me out at first). I did opt for an epi that didnt take AT ALL and I still felt my contrax (which werent bad at all). At midnight I was about 8cm......Got to 10 and they had to wheel me to the OR just in case I ended up needing an ER section since I was a VBAC.........I pushed for about 5 min and DS#4 was born by VBAC at 12:56 am
DS#4..born at 42 weeks...8 lbs 12 oz and 20 in long (he also had a 14.5 in head)

All of my babies were born at exactly 39 weeks (their own decision to come then). My first was 7'10 oz, my second was 8'4 oz, my third and fourth were both 7'7 oz. I had no complications during my pregnancies or my labors/deliveries. Babies were all very healthy and came home the next day. Labors were quick... first was 11 hours, second was 2 hours, third was 4 hours, fourth was 5 hours. First two I had an epidural, but my next two were completely natural.

I had DD at 40 weeks 5 days (7 lbs 10.5 oz & 20 in long) via "emergency" Csect 24 hours after noticable labor began.

I labored at home for about 12ish hours prior to going to the OB's office the next morning to get checked to see how far along I was. They confirmed labor & sent me to be admitted in the hospital (across the street). By doing it this way, I got to skip the waiting around in the ER. I really wanted natural labor but after not progressing as quickly as I had hoped... I consented to an epidural around the 14th hour. (I made the decision based on the lack of anticipated progress, level of pain with the closeness in contractions & the dr was going in to a Csect... now or never kind of thing.)

I ended up spiking a temp and an "emergency" Csect was strongly recommended. DD's large head ended up being stuck in my "crooked" pelvis. The OB felt this was why I never progressed to pushing despite being in "active" labor.

DS will be a scheduled Csect sometime in the 39th week.

That was me too!!! The head stuck in the pelvis thing was crazy. My DD1's nose was all smushed from the position she was in. In the end I was glad I consented when I did because I know she never would have been able to come out in that position.

When I read yours, I was like... that sounds familiar.

DD came out completely bruised across the bridge of her nose & above her eyes where she was stuck. I feel the same way about my Csect. and I have no doubts about scheduling a repeat.

    January 1st, 1999 - 41 weeks - 14 hour natural labour - baby boy - 7lbs 12oz

December 16th, 2001 - 37 weeks - csection due to prolapse cord - boy/girl twins - 7lbs 8oz & 7lbs 7oz. I was induced due to size (measuring 56 weeks) and was fully dialated and pushing within 4 hours but had prolapse cord (both babies were also breech).

    November 14th, 2003 - 40 weeks - 7 hour natural labour (with epidural) - baby boy - 7lbs 10oz

    March 1st, 2010 - 40 weeks - 1 hour 45 minutes natural labour (not able to get epidural) - baby girl - 7lbs 15oz

This baby is hopefully an induction/epidural, no way I want a natural birth again, would rather have another csection than go through the pain of childbirth again. We live an hour from the hospital and almost didn't make it with Clara. My epidural births were a dream, I would rather be conscious and aware when my baby is born versus screaming and delirious. I was so out of it with Clara it took me over 1/2 an hour to want to hold her. I was in complete shock from the pain.
