Name Debate

Sorry, this turned into more of a rambling rant. Hormones..gotta love em!

This LO's name has really thrown us for a loop. We have not been able to decide. I'm not sure what I should do. With DS, the minute DH heard Miles, he said "that's it, that's his name, its perfect" Well I had my favorite name too, but DH just seemed so confident that Miles was the one, that I almost just gave in. (that's also why we have a basset hound lol) I did love the name (and now I realize it is perfect, and wouldn't have it any other way), but he wouldn't even budge on it, so I got to decided his middle name. Now with this one, I am feeling the same way, almost like I am just getting shut out. DH isn't doing it to me again, but keeps telling me the names he likes and won't even discuss anything else. DH LOVES LOVES Penelope and has since we decided to even start having kids, but I just don't know if I like it with our last name starting with a P (will kids make fun of her because her initials are PP?). BUT now DS out of no where is saying his baby sisters name is Chloe (which is a name I liked early on, but haven't mentioned it since). Do we just go with what DS says?? lol Let him decide for us? Here are the names we have so far (we don't necessarily love each others choices). What do you think? Lily, Chloe, Penelope, Mallory.

I like all 4 name choices BUT I have to veto anything that starts with a P. That's just making it too easy for a reason to make fun of her later on.

We considered Lily & Chloe last time but had friends beat us to the punch. I haven't heard Mallory in awhile but I like it especially with Miles. I think they go together in a very cute way.

Good luck deciding!

My favs are Chloe and Mallory. Chloe is one I thought about using for awhile.

I agree. I like Mallory and Chloe. I'd say go with Mallory if you're looking for something that isn't super popular at the moment. I've had tons of Lillies in my classes. In fact in a pre-k class of 18 about 4 years ago there was Lily, Lilly, and Lilliann. I do kind of like Penelope too, but wonder about the double P initials as well.

I'm a weirdo & dislike P words so although Penelope is a lovely name it's not my fave.

I love, love, love Chloe! I also think it would make a very cute story to say DS named your DD. Wouldn't that just make him so proud?

I like them all, although I would avoid Penelope only because of the initials. I might in your shoes keep the options open and decide when you see her.

I really like Mallory. Not sure why, but it is unique and a great fit with Miles. I also like the idea of Lillian and calling her Lily for short....

:lurk: I like Mallory as a name and I agree it goes well with Miles. But you have to decide if you want to start the trend of all "M" names.

As an elementary school teacher, I would veto Penelope in a second! Kids are mean and cruel. I like all of your name choices, though!

Chloe is my fav of the ones you have listed. I agree with not having a P name, besides I dont really like Penny as a short name. There is really something to be said for the sibling being excited about the baby's name though. When my boys took to the name Kai that was sort of the clincher for me. But if you choose something else I am sure Miles will be fine with it in the long run.
I also agree that Mallory is cool with Miles if ya want to do the same letter thing. I personally like everyone having their own letter so I can shorten things more easily like "R DR appt" or "F soccer game" on the calendar.
Goodness knows it is a super hard decision to make! GL!

When you did the name poll I chose Lily, but now I change my vote to Chloe :). I just love that DS "chose" it. I think it makes it so much more special that her big brother named her. He'd remind her of that their whole lives, just adorable IMO.

I agree with the others about Penelope. It's a beautiful name, but having the initials PP is going to be rough in school. Kids can be so mean and you don't want to give them ammo!

We didn't take that into consideration when choosing Caleb's name, my oldest's name is Christian. It has made texting much less convenient! I certainly wouldn't change his name now, but it is definitely taking some adjusting. Smile

hehe thanks girls! Mallory and Chloe are my names that I love! Biggrin I didn't know if I wanted to do the M trend, but I do like Max, Molly, & Mason. I agree with Penny as a nick name, I really don't like it, I would rather have her called Penelope, but I can't control other people, and the PP thing just makes me sad that kids would really make fun of it! I think it would be cute to have Miles name her...I even think DH is on board now because he keeps saying "Kooey" Biggrin

Love Chloe and Mallory. I would not pick a p name either. When my brother was born, 5 weeks early, my parent did not have a name. I told them to name him Nathan. They had a list of names and could not decide which one was right. They ended up naming him Nathan. I don't think there is anythign wrong with your child suggusting a name; in the end it your decision.

Penelope Pitstop anyone? lol Kidding (sort of...)

ITA with Janel about starting the trend of all the names starting with the same letter.

So for those two reasons I'd pick Chloe Smile But all three names are beautiful.

:LURKING:
I could have written the bolded. My Dh has told me that his DD's name would be Penny from the day we started dating. However, I just don't click with the name. I've tried to consider Penelope but I know everyone would call her Penny. With DS we heard his name and knew immediately that it was "the one" and now this LO still has no name. I actually love Lilly and have pushed pretty hard for it and he loves Chloe and is doing the same, lol.
