Nervous

Tomorrow at 10am I am taking Callan to the Hospital to get his Tongue tie clipped. I am so nervous, I always cry when taking them for injections and I imagine this to be worse. Hoping everything goes ok, and we can continue breastfeeding but without the pain, and that he can continue to gain weight.

That's great that they got him approved and scheduled for it right away. I know it won't be easy for you knowing he's having surgery, but I'm sure he'll do awesome! Let us know how it goes!

Thanks guys. He was such a good boy. My appt was 10am and we walked out at 9:50 lol They took us back and Callan was asleep he asked me a couple of questions about feeding. Then I held him and the guy looked in his mouth. Then asked if I wanted it done. Of course I did or I wouldn't be there. So whilst I was holding him they did it. The only noise Callan made was a murmur no cries or anything. There was a fair amount of blood in his mouth, I was ok until I saw that. Apparently this was due to his frenum being so thick.

It hasn't quite been the miracle I though it would be though. Feeding is still painful but I think it is probably due to the 7weeks of abuse they have suffered and bad habits he has learnt. So hopefully everyday will improve a little. It is funny watching him though he keeps moving his Tongue all over and sticking it out which he couldn't do before lol

I'm glad it went so quickly and smoothly. Hope the pain goes away quickly as he learns the good habits he can now do.

I've been thinking of you! I'm so glad to hear it went quickly and well Smile Hopefully he'll learn how to nurse less painfully soon.

Emma - hoping your little man is doing better at nursing. Cute to hear about him sticking his tongue out. I had to ROFL when I saw your ticker...you are a trooper woman - 48 weeks pregnant!

After you originally posted about tounge tie, I started looking in Kessler's mouth and I actually think he is tounge tied as well. Nursing is still painful at times but I have TONS of milk, so he doesn't have to work for it much and is gaining weight. He has his next appointment on the 13th, so I'm definitely asking the Dr. about it. Especially since it seems to a fairly simple procedure from your description.

My DD is tongue tied and they said as long as baby nurses well and gains properly there's no need to mess with it. She never had any issues and speaks properly now. I also have a ton of milk and a really hard let down, I wonder how much that helps. The milk basically shoots into their mouths!

Karen - that's how my milk is. Literally shoots out like crazy into his mouth. It only hurts when he gets lazy and doesn't latch that well.
