officially ready for baby!

I just finished up my last shopping online (love coupon codes!!). All the newborn clothes and blankets are washed, just need to prep some cloth diapers and we are ready to go!! The only thing that we'll possible still get is the new infant car seat, but we have 8 weeks to do it, we'll see how finances go.

CD mamas, what can I use to soften the diapers? these are hand me downs that went through 2 previous babies and they are a bit stiff, they are fitteds.

Yay for things getting done! I'd maybe ask on the cloth diaper board about how to soften the diapers.

Ok... First, I'm so jealous that you are ready... but Congrats despite my jealousy! Biggrin

Second, head over here... http://www.diaperswappers.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=10 for cloth diapering help. You can probably do a search & find what you need to know. I know I've seen other mamas talking about a product they use but I just can't remember the name of it.

Have you stripped the diapers? I'm not sure what detergent/soap you use but I use Rockin Green Soap & I do a 'Rock a Soak' every so often when I need to get build up out.

I wouldn't use oxy clean. I've read that if the diapers have ever been bleached that it will react with it & can damage the diaper. Some people recommend using a bit of bleach (not regularly)... some people are very against it.

What kind of diapers are we talking about? I know you said fitteds... are you talking about just the cotton or covers too?

Have you ever tried sunning your diapers? Wash the diapers then put them outside to dry in the sun. This will make them a bit crispy (you can fix that by fluffing them in the dryer). The sun is a natural (free) way to get rid of stains & it kills bacteria. I love sunning them!

Check out this link... http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/detergentbasics.htm Great info on what is good & what isn't for different situations/problems with cloth diaper washing/stripping.
