Pads

Anyone wearing a pad just in case your water breaks? They are a pita but I'm thinking it might be a good idea. Btw I am 3 cm, 80% effaced with the dr very technically telling me her position was "ready to fall out."

Love it! No pads but I am putting a trashbag and a towel on my carseat just in case. DH thinks I should be sleeping on a towel too but that just sounds uncomfortable! My water broke with both my boys so I am expecting it at any moment.

I've got something on my bed...new mattress. Smile
No pad. I hate them. HATE! I think I'll put a garbage bag & towel on my seat though. Good idea Jules.

No pads. I'm getting a new mattress sometime this week/weekend b/c my parents are coming up and we have two empty guest rooms. So guessing I'll probably sleep on a towel or something when I get that. May just put a towel and trashbag in the trunk of the car, but my water was broken at the hospital, so I didn't experience that problem last go round.

Yep, the big ol 'mama pads' lol I think they're the Always Super Overnight ones. They're seriously bigger than the size 1 diapers we have for Owen ROFL

I always use a liner (although I'm out now) but pads are so uncomfortable! I got those new Always infinity of whatever they are called for post partum bleeding. My water had to be broken both time at the hospital, I think I was 7cm.

My water broke around 8cm I don't think it will break early. No pads for me. I want to wear them as little as possible.

can't wait to tell you the whole story when we are home, but my water broke in a public place! Had clothes, pads, trash bags and a towel in the car, luckily. Maybe wearing the uncomfortable pad is not such a bad idea. Smile

now I am paranoid and wearing one! Last night I had to go to someones house for a meeting and all I could think about was my water breaking while sitting in there dining room chair, and today I have 3 meetings, so pads for me all the way! with my luck, it would happen in a public place, hopefully only understanding moms would be around, like at school.

My water broke with DD and lemme tell ya, there was nothing a pad would have been able to do about it! Wink

Some people just have slower leaks I guess, but when mine broke it came gushing out of me like a waterfall! I stood helpless in the bathroom and soaked through 3 pads in about 2 minutes. Finally I hobbled my way over to my phone to call DH Wink

Good ideas to protect the bed and car though!

When my water broke it was a slow leak and all a pad would have done is buy me a minute to get a towel. I sat on a new one on the way to the hospital and in the half hour it took to get there it was pretty much soaked through. I tried a pad initially, but quickly realized it was not going to work. For me it was like I was peeing but it didn't stop.

:lurk:

I agree, I had a oops did I pee myself moment, worked out my water had broken and got a pad but gave up quickly to get a towel and waddled around the house getting my last few things like that then waddled my butt to the car drove to hospital and waddled on in with the towel still between my legs. Glad it was the middle of the night because there was no one around to laugh.

I had one millisecond where I thought , "Hmm that feels like a little more discharge than usual" but then there was the undeniable GUSH. The only reason I wish I had I pad is because I was in a public place and it might have kept me from dripping all the way to the floor before I got to the bathroom. Glad I was at least wearing pants and not a skirt - more material to soak up the water.

Well I was in labor at 8 cm before my water broke (was same with DD, it broke on it's own during transition) so I didn't need the pads.
