Preterm and 33 week Appt

So, yesterday was an exciting and worrisome day!
So the past few days, everytime I've been up and around doing stuff (chores, walking at the beach, etc.) I've had cramping, some that start in the back and move to the front. Well yesterday morning I decided the apartment needed to be clean. Throughout the cleaning I was cramping pretty bad but I told myself I was just being a pansy and to suck it up. So I took a shower and we went to the store. When we got back I kept having the cramping, and then while walking into the room to lay down I had a painful contraction and had me leaning against the wall. So, after a little deliberating (and of course my Dr. being at lunch) we went in to L&D. They hooked me up and sure enough I was having regular contractions (not super painful but uncomfortable enough to make me flinch). They checked me and then kept an eye on my for another hour. When she checked me again I had thinned and dialated a bit.
At that point they decided they were going to move me to a room and start me on Magnesium Sulfate (I was NOT looking forward to that). As soon as the nurse went to make preparations the contractions started to die out!! Yay! When the Dr. came to consult me before they admitted me, they had completely stopped for about half an hour.
I have my 33 week appointment with him today and since I live about 10 minutes from the hospital we decided to try and let me go home and rest and if I got worse I'd just come back! I was so super excited that it had stopped.
Well, when we got home I had a little bit of cramping and a slight contraction or two but if I laid down they stopped or diminished (sometimes I can't really feel them except for a creepy, crawly feeling on the skin of my stomach which I also had with DS before going into labor.) And then this morning I cooked some breakfast and did a few chores and had a couple slight contractions as well. :violent2:
I'm REALLY dreading to hear the words "bed-rest" as I have to take care of my son while my husbands at work. But I really don't want to have her early either. So, we'll see what happens at the appointment in a few hours! Crossing my fingers!!!

I know how frustrating this is as I also have a irritable uterus... just a bit of walking/cleaning and I get hit with contractions, cramping, braxton hicks, etc. I have to take it easy too and I know how hard it is when you have other kid to take care of! Hang in there Smile

Oh my... I know what you mean about bed rest... I would be utterly screwed if I got put on that right now. Make sure you stay well hydrated. Remember, resting a bit each hour is better than permanent bed rest. Hang in there! KUP!

Eeek! Hope you can stay off of bed rest and keep the little girl baking! KUP.

So sorry! Sad Sounds like what I've been dealing with lately and yes bedrest sucks...thankfully I have only 1 week and 1 day left of it! It is extremely difficult when you have other children. Did they say how dilated and effaced you are? I'm 2 cm, 80% effaced. They put me on bedrest when I was 1 cm, 70% effaced. A couple of days ago, my doctor said that since I am now 34 weeks, she isn't going to stop labor if it happens so now I'm just waiting and hoping I make it to at least 36 weeks. KUP!

(I apologize for the entry but I'm writing from my phone). Thanks for the support guys! So I was given three options: take it easy, strict bed rest, or hospital monitoring). I'm trying the first but I still have contractions sitting up, so now I'm laying down chugging water which spaces them out a bit. He basically said to come in if they get any worse or feel like true labor (which I'm pretty sure I forgot what that is in four years! :P) he said we will try to make it to 35 and if I go then they won't stop it). They didn't give me any numbers in terms of cervix just that when she first checked sh could barely get her finger in the first opening and I had thinned a bit, the second time she was able to get a finger through almost completely without resistance. They also did a fetal fibronectin (sp?) swab which came back positive which I guess means I have a higher chance of going into labor in the next week or so :S. Hopefully I can keep it under control! Probably going to have DH stay home this weekend if I can't get out of bed :(. Here's to hoping!!! On the bright side she is now head down and I have my shower tomorrow!!!
