    Question Pumping at the hospital?

If for some reason I need to pump at the hospital, should I bring my own pump just in case or use the one at the hospital???

Depends on what the hospital offers. I personally had no luck with the hospital grade medela pump, I did SO much better with my avent manual pump. So I'd be bringing my avent with me.

There are a few different hospital grade pumps, some much better than others. If they have a good one then I would just use theirs. If not, then I'd bring my own.

I'd just use theirs. Chances aren't high that you'll have to pump. Also, I don't know how far you live from the hospital, but if the need comes up you can always have DH or someone bring it from home. I make sure all my pumping stuff is ready before the baby comes anyway, and DH could just grab it if it was needed. It's not even on my "leave in car in case" list.

I think the hospital uses a Medela and I have an Ameda. My pump is sterilized and ready to go. We live only about 20 minutes from the hospital and I know DH has to come back to the house eventually so if for some reason I need it then he can grab it for me. I didn't even think about that option. Thanks, ladies!

I'm just going to use the hospital one if it's necessary. Last time I did & it was fine. The bonus for me is that the package of supplies (bottles, shields & even a manual pump) were billed to my insurance. So I was able to get something I needed & not have to come out of pocket for it.

I'm going to use the hospital's one if it's absolutely necessary. I don't want to bring my pump with me and then have it get lost in all the ruckus.

I used the hospitals! It was a Medela and worked great! I got my own parts and my own bags to have all the parts sterilized by the nurses, plus the nurses gave me extra parts because MIL bought me one!

I used the hospitals and it was nice as I could pump both sides at once.

I never pumped at the hospital and honestly I never gave it any thought lol. Oops! I've never brought my pump with me.

I'm hoping there will be no need to, but just trying to prepare for different scenarios.
