Sorry I have been MIA...

Hey ladies,

Sorry I have been MIA. We have been adjusting to having a new born. The first few nights were really tough but, we are starting to get the hang of it. Breastfeeding was a real struggle for us. I have started pumping and supplementing now. My supply is slowly dwindling and I am upset but not sure what more i can do.

I love being a mommy. It is the hardest but most amazing thing I have ever done.

I have been trying to read up on everyone. I hope you are all doing well.

Glad to hear from you! I know there is years of bf'ing experience on this board if you want help and support, as well the ladies on the breastfeeding board are amazing. What problems have you been having?

We had a lot of trouble breastfeeding, too (did not get on the breast until she was one week old). I found the hospital grade pump we rented to be a big help. That did not keep me from crying uncontrollably lots of days, but it really helped keep up my supply until we could actually breastfeed. You are definitely right about this being the hardest and best thing at the same time. I hope things are going ok for you.

I had to pump with DD but mainly b/c I was returning to work at 6 weeks, so I needed to her to take a both bottle and breast. People think it's easy to pump, but it's time consuming and just as tough as breast feeding, so I totally understand what your dealing with.
Hang in there! If you really want to breastfeed, then just keep hanging in there and keep trying. It was rough DD, but a little easier with DS.

I had a very hard time breastfeeding with my first. My only advice is to do what's best for both of you. I've been supplementing with formula and breastfeeding from the start with DS and it's going much better this time.

Thanks ladies! I am okay with pumping, I just wish my supply would stay the same. It just seems to decrease no matter how much I pump. I am taking fenugreek and having an n/a beer at nights to help. Do you guys know any other tricks? I would really lovemy daighter to continue to have half breast milk and half formula. Thank you for all of your support.

I have been taking brewers yeast supplements. 2x3 times a day. Not sure if it is coincidence but my supply has definitely increased. Good luck this is my third time trying to breadtfeed and the first time I have gotten this far.

Seems simple, but are you drinking lots of water? I find personally that I need to drink at least 4 liters (1 gallon) of water a day while nursing. I would also make sure I had a good pump where the flanges fit properly.

I definitely agree with this and was going to say the same thing. I have to drink a ton of water to keep up my supply. If I do not drink as much water one day I notice a decrease in how much I get that day.
