Are you planning on using a baby monitor? What kind?
Yes, the Angel Care one
We had it with DD and I really liked it. Sadly, when she was about 18 months old I vacuumed over the cord that attached to the part that goes under the bed. SO, we turned the motion sensor off and just used it like a regular monitor until we lost one of the 'parent units' and the other one wouldn't hold a charge.
Yes. Although I won't need it for the first months since he will be in the bassinet in our room. I may use it for naps.
I got a Sony monitor from Target last time for about $40. It has been wonderful. I still use it every day & night with DD.
I used the Angel Care with DS and was pleased, so I plan to do the same with this one
Yes. We have a Safety First plain ol' monitor. Don't know if we'll get that again or something different. The thing I liked about it most was zero interference & a long monitoring area.
Add me to the angel care group! I can't sleep without it on, I am way too obsessive about staring at them making sure they don't stop breathing!
Had a second hand one with my first. Then never had one at all with my second. As baby will be in with me to start with (this is a first for me) I won't bother. But will see when we move them. The house we are moving too is bigger and the babies room is further from ours this time so will prob get a cheap one. I tend to be quite a laid back Mom and not overly paranoid about much lol
Our house is all one floor so we never used the one we bought. I'm rarely in the basement and even if I'm down there you can hear through the floors if there's any baby squeaks!
we seem to have ALOT in common...lol. I had a regular ol one with Kodey and Kaleb and hated it. I used it maybe twice. Never used one with Cam and Cheyann, however I did get one when they were a bit older, I wanna say Cheyann was 3ish because the last time we were in Germany I would sometimes go across the hall in our LOCKED building to a friends house to watch movies etc. after kids were in bed and I'd put it in the hallway outside their bedroom doors so I could hear if someone got up.....won't have one this time unless someone gives me one. Baby girl will be in my room so the only time I can see it being useful is if I am outside with the older kids and she's asleep..........but even still checking on her every few min would work also.
LOL Amanda we do. I think my low paranoia and my laid back nature with my kids is from being a live in Nanny for many years. So by the time I had my first I had already 'practised' on lots of other people's kids lol I also think a lot of baby products on the market are just money making gimmicks so don't bother with them.
Not on your life!! I have. Nothing against them but I have severe anxiety. I had one at the beginning with Mélofie and every time her breathing slowed I wod get up to check and ultimately wake her up. I am on edge enough to here if the baby wakes, that's all my sanity can take
Nope. I did use it with my first couple, but since then my babies have always been with me, so there hasn't been a need.
Yes, A sony moniter.
I can't remember my brand, but I have used it every day and still do! Well I didn't at first when DS was still in the bassinet in our room. I am super paranoid and can't sleep if I don't have it on!
I have the summer infant video monitor. I bought it when I was pregnant with Rowynn and started using it with Fiona when she moved to a toddler bed. I use it with Rowynn now. The baby will be in my room for a while, but when it's time to move him to his own room I'll move the monitor to him.
I will use a regular audio monitor (can't remember the brand) and a Snuza which clips onto the babies diaper and if it detects that they stop breathing, it vibrates and reminds them to breathe. It also has an alarm to let me know if they do not start breathing. I read that it's better than the angel care monitor and it's also the same technology that they use in NICU's for preemie's since they tend to forget to breathe. My sister is the one who told me about it and she's buying it for me as a shower gift.
I actually personally wouldn't use the Snuza, but I know it gives my sister a peace of mind since she lost her baby to SIDS. I tend to be a more relaxed parent, but I am taking the necessary measures to help prevent SIDS just so she feels a little better.
I still use a regular monitor with DS but need to get another one for this LO. I wanted a video monitor but kinda think it may be a waste of money for us. We do live in a big house and I would feel more comfortable if I could hear him. I like the ones that have the temperature on them and the talk feature to reasure he is ok. Still researching them, it is definitely on my need to buy list. So many to choose from!!!
I use a graco moniter with dd, and will probably use the same one with this one.
We will use a monitor once DS is in his own crib. We love the monitor we use with DD. The kids' rooms are on the second floor and our master is on the main so it's necessity. I am not sure if we'll get another one like the one we have for DD or if we'll get a new one for DS.
I agree on the money making thing......My first were born when I was 23 and by then I had taken care of so many newborns, babies, kids.....I have never been super paranoid about anything...
