My SIL has posted 2 pics on her facebook page recently of her son in his carseat. He's 3. In both pics, the chest clip (the one that is supposed to be at arm pit level) is down near his belly button. Now, I don't know if she hasn't adjusted it yet or what? I'm assuming the car isn't moving yet in the pics since she is taking a pic. We aren't super close & we mostly only communicate on facebook & sometimes text messaging. I was considering writing a facebook message (a priviate one... not on her wall) about it... just to make sure she knows.
Should I say something? Or just mind my own business? What do I say without sounding offensive?
I would say something, probably in a slightly funny light, along the lines of how hard that clip can be to move when the straps are tight.

Or maybe say something like..."Did he move the clips down by himself??? My daughter is always moving those clips down too, I know they are uncomfortable but she is little and just doesnt know how important they are."

I find whenever you approach these subjects it's never well received... it's almost better to just leave it be (as hard as it is). Instead, I would email her the latest information email you can find about the importance of a properly restrained child in a carseat as then you are not confronting her directly and just passing it on.
I have to agree with Sally. ANY confrontation on this kind of issue... even if you are just making a "light" comment is not usually taken so well. I would just pass along an article that "you just happened to stumble upon" about the proper way to secure a child in their carseat.
I agree that it won't go over well no matter how you approach it. Especially since she's your SIL and not your sister. Maybe if you were riding in the car with her it would be different, but not sure she would change her ways even if you did say something.
Hmm that's hard. I've taken pics of DD before when she puts on her big ridiculous butterfly-shaped sunglasses in the car (eta- haha THOSE big ridiculous sunglasses in my siggy) and I'm not done buckling her in yet. So I can definitely see that as a possibility.
Since you guys aren't close, and you don't know the whole situation behind the pictures, I'd probably keep my mouth shut.
