Worst night ever!! (Long)

I went to bed at 11:00 last night, Sophia woke up at 11:45 so I nursed her and she went back to sleep. She then woke up again at 1AM. I nursed her, but she didn't go back to sleep until 8AM!!! She wasn't even fussy the whole time so I know its not colic. She didn't even get fussy until the very end when she was clearly exhausted. How is it even normal for a 1 month old to stay awake for 7 hours straight? I know she doesn't have her days and nights mixed up, but even if she did, 7 hours is still a long time for her to be up even it was daytime. I did everything last night to try to get her to sleep! I even gave her gripe water again thinking maybe her tummy was upset. That actually made her mad so I stopped doing that.

Do you think I should call the pediatrician? My intuition is telling me this is just not normal, but I feel stupid calling them because my baby won't sleep. DH got up at 5:30 and walked around with her. He said that he could feel a gurgling in her stomach and she's been spitting up a lot lately. She even vomited on Sunday. Could it be acid reflux? Like I said though she wasn't fussy the whole time she was awake so it didn't seem like she was uncomfortable. She just quietly sat in my arms and stared at me or looked around. I even just put her in her bassinet so I could sleep and she could look around all she wanted, but that made her mad!

Ugh! I am so frustrated, upset, and exhausted. I have been crying all morning and this has just put me in a terrible mood. No sleep for almost 3 weeks now is taking a toll on me. I just don't know what else to do!! :( I was so happy about the great night we had using the gripe water and now it just seems like it was a total fluke! I am so scared at what tonight has in store for me.

Hang in there, Markus is just like this! None of my other kids would stay awake as long as he does, some days he is up for the ENTIRE day! It's common for him to be awake from 7pm-3am and just wanting to be carried and nursed... it's exhausting. I know he's perfectly fine and healthy, doctor also said it's normal, every baby is different. I'm going on 7 weeks of this and yup I'm pretty much just going through the motions lately.

Glad to hear it's normal and I'm not alone in this! It's been going on off and on for 7 weeks, but pretty consistent now for close to 3 weeks. It started off with her staying up just 2 nights a week and now I may get one good night of sleep a week. Did your doctor say how long this usually last? I'm just worried when I go back to work in 2 weeks. There is no way I could go in and assist 4 attorneys after having a night like this and it's impossible for me to work from home! That's what I'm most frustrated about. I wish I had at least 6 months off!

Sitting at the pediatricians office. She's starting to spit up blood and they told me to bring her in. :(

Ugh to the bad sleep and EEK to the spitting up blood! I wonder if she's got reflux, I do believe that can be a reason for spitting up blood. Please KUP, I'm thinking of you both!

I didn't get to see her regular pediatrician and I don't like the one I saw. He said the blood is probably from my nipples. I told him that their not cracked so he had a female colleague come look at my nipples and she even said they look fine. He is insisting that is the issue. Ugh! He even said that reflux does not cause bleeding and I know I've read that it does.

oh no!! sounds aweful! Glad you got her checked out! Hope they can figure out what's going on and you can both get some sleep! Have you tried a swing if she is awake. Nicholas sleeps good in it on a high setting and will even sit in it content when he is awake so I can get some things done around the house.
