To the Doc I go! Nervous!

Todays finallllly my "first" appointment.
I had blood taken at the lab twice when I found out, but haven't had an actual appointment yet.
Its only an intake with the nurse- but I'm SOOO NERVOUS..
Probably because I still don'thave insurance so I'm worried they're going to be rude, have a huge copay, or basically just a huge bill in general I'm expecting. I still owe 344.00 from my little blood test eek!
I just keep telling myself its worth it- I'd rather have a baby and huge bills then no baby right?!?!
I guess what bugs me most is kevin is NOT WORRIED at all- and keeps talking about things he wants, a boat, a camp trailer, on and on (he's REALLY good with money and never spends unnecessary, so thats whats most irritating) If I even MENTION insurance he doesn't even reply or answer..its really bugging me! Maybe because the bills have my name on them. hahah..

Anyways, I'm sooo scared of needles, so I'm worried for that... and really nervous to run into "people" since this pregnancy is still hush hush.. and just... EEK, worried my numbers will be low...

Did anyone call the office after their intake to ask what their numbers were??

My BFF had her intake, then 4 days later her OB appt, and her number was -1! and nobody told her until the U/S found out there was no heartbeat... so it really stresses me out thinking that they take your blood and check your levels but don't tell you or even warn the doctor what to expect!!!

My OB appt is Tuesday- Reallyyyyy nervous for that one, probably because that one is going to be super $$$$ and even if I do get insurance I dont think it'll backtrack. Oh wellll. I just need to let it go. Once I see that heartbeat I think I'll feel A LOT better and more secure!

I wonder if they weigh you at the intake, It's been so long I cant even remember! I hope not!! hehe

Phew! You'll be okay. I understand the nervousness though. Are you sure they'll do a blood test at your appointment? I wonder if they will since you've already had blood tests to confirm pregnancy.

My doctor called after my blood test and my first ultrasound to go over them with me. A nurse called after my second ultrasound. I think it's pretty typical for them to call to review things with you?

Good luck! Let us know how it goes. I'll be thinking of you. :bighug:

I'm baaaack! Phew! Worse blood draw ever! She was digging all around, eek! but worth it!

They probably did it again because the first time it was sooo early, and my levels were sooo low, and it was mainly to test progesterone the first time.

They never call to follow up- ugh, but I think I'll call them in a few hours and see if they have my HCG numbers. maybe that'll be of some releif.

Appt was really quick- Probably because I already have a kid and because there's really nothing to go over, no diseases or complications or anything, so she said we were super fast! yay!

I was most nervous about the insurance, and they were actually really nice, haha I'm sure next time it wont be so easy. Smile

Glad it went well except for the blood draw! They don't do hcg at my drs unless there it is too early for u/s and there is a problem. They do do other b/w and they only call if there is something wrong. As for insurance it is what it is. You gotta see the dr and unfortunately they cost lots if money. Kevin can't get insurance thru work? Can you apply for Medicaid? They will go back to the beginning of the pregnancy I think? I was on Medicaid with our first way back when as neither dh nor I had insurance in fact he was still in college and I had dropped out to work full time at a daycare to save money.

I hope you get the insurance thing figured out soon so that you can just relax and enjoy your pg. I always apply for medicaid for pg women because the benefits are so much better than what I have through DH's work. They always backdate it to the date of the BFP. Whatever you do, it will work out in the end. Hugs!

Hi guys! Just saw the replies.

I did try to apply for State/medicaid but they go off who LIVES in your house, despite me and Kev not being married yet I have to put him down and he makes too much money bcuz our family is only a size 4 (with the baby) for my area you have to make less then like 3500/mo before tax. so it's really hard to get.

kev gets really good insurance and so does brody- but it wont extend to me bcuz were not married.

Im wondering if we get married it it'll even cover it since I'm alraedy preg, or if it'll back date, especially bcuz I have another appt in 2 weeks. EEEP!!!

Wow, that seems so un-fair that you can not get assistance because you are considered one family, even if you are not married, but you can not get your partners benefits unless you are married? I hope you get that straightened out soon!

I think it'll pay for it, even if I'm already preg. Although im sure it wont backdate all of the huge bilsl I've already stacked up.

I faxed in all the info to the state insurance, and now its processing, i really want to see if I can get that before I go the marriage route. For one, it would backdate, and for two, it would mean we could wait to get married til after the baby, although it takes two weeks to process so, gonna be a long wait!!
I'll prob have to start paying my bills in the meantime, haha the first 350 is due next week, oh well, nobody said babies would be cheap right?!?! hahah

If I was paying out of pocket, I'd do a home birth for sure. I've always wanted to do it, but since I have insurance and it covers the m/w birthing center, I suck it up and go there.
