For fun... Thinking of names yet?

Is anyone thinking about names yet?

I feel like I constantly think of names- especially when I'm not even pregnant..

I've been keeping a little record of names I like in my phone for the last 2 years haha.. always adding one when I hear something I like..

I'm trying to be really GOOD and not mentioning ANY names to Kevin until after the gender scan- Last time our main fights during pregnancy were over names, haha... and usually girl names which it turns out we didnt need.

Im pretty sure were set on our boy name already- which is nice - (I'm sure last min he'll change his mind just to tick me off!! haha)

But we dont really have any girl names- I really dont think I'll have a girl so I'm trying not to even think about it.

Even though I think I'm set on my boy name, and dont think I'll ever have a girl, I still feel myself constantly thinking about names and looking @ names on TV shows and keeping my ears open for good names- with allll the names out there you'd think SOMETHING would have a ring to it!!

This time I am at a loss for names.....with DD if she was a boy her name would have been Noah. Than for Ds his name would have been Callie if he was a girl. But neither Noah or Callie are ranked as my favorites anymore. I like Carter or Carson for a boy but don't want dd to feel left out if both her brothers have C names(I know I am weird like that) Dh really wants a girl , but is determined it will be another boy, so I dunno. PLus my bro and sis in law are having twin boys in July ,therefore I am kinda waiting to see what they pick before I go with any boy names just incase. I swear this is the hardest part of the pregnancy.

We've had the name Simon picked out for 5 years for a boy, but haven't had a use for it so far. We struggled with girl names for Mina and Charlotte, but I have one picked out this time around. Maybe I'll get my boy that way? Lol

Oh yes! I am like you constantly thinking about names. We don't really have any picked out. We thought we had agreed on a girl name but now I'm not loving it like I was so we're back to square one. We have a few thoughts for boys but nothing we're set on.

With my DS we both loved our boy name so that was easy. This time it's going to be harder. I like names that aren't super common but not weird either. KWIM?

I am always looking at names! Nymbler.com is a cool site. You can plug in names you like and it will come up with similar style names. We've had various girls' names picked out but obviously never used them. I really like Blakely for a girl this time around. DH really likes Sawyer for a boy. But I know we'll be researching names up until delivery!

If we have a boy, his name will be William Paul. That has been set since I was pg with DD #1 (and there is no way I will ever be able to convince DH of it otherwise, lol). For a girl, that's a harder one, since we are picky on girl names, lol! We decided to do a 6 letter girl name (since my oldest has 3 letters and my youngest has 9 letters, we wanted something in between, lol!). One name we were tossing around is Juliet. And I love Grace for a middle name.

We tend not to think about names until we know gender because we have the worst time agreeing on them. DS1 is Mason Christopher (Chris is DHs name), neither of us were really in love with the name Mason, but it was the only name we both didn't hate lol. DS2 is Isaac Alexander, no special meaning I just loved the name Isaac but DH wouldn't let me use it for DS1 because he didn't like it, but with my next pg since he knew how badly I wanted a girl he let me at least have the name I wanted.

I really don't like a lot of boys names, and the few I do DH hates or they're too popular for me to actually use. With girls names, I like so many of them that it makes it just as hard to pick lol. But if its a girl her middle name will be Deanna after my grandmother who passed away almost 10 years ago.

I have a hard time with boys names. We didn't even look at boys names last time and I have no idea where to start looking at boys names. I know his middle name with be John, which is DH's middle name, but I would love to name him in some way after my dad but my dad's name is Ronald (and thats not on my top list Biggrin ) and my dad has no middle name. It saddens me to think I wouldn't honor him in some way though because i'm so close to him and he had no boys. He would be so touched if I did though.

For girls I have always love a few names but DH doesn't like them. For some reason when I found out I was pregnant this time Mackenzie Mae came to mind right away. For some reason I just loved the name Mackenzie when it popped in my head and Mae is DH's mom's middle name.

My daughter is Hailey Jean. Hailey was the only name we could agree on and Jean is both mine and my mom's middle name.

Chaise - What about Ronan? I've heard of someone naming their kid that lately and that would be a cooler version of Ronald. Smile

That's definitely a better version of Ronald lol ill have get Dh on board though. He'd not so much onto unique names he's very traditional with names. When we named Hailey he told me to not go crazy with the spelling cause he had to remember how to spell it lol

This is fun!
Chaise- Jean is my, my moms, my grandmas middle name as well.. I've debated using it if we ever had a girl.
Amber- I think maybe I secretly try to jinx myself because I LOVE my boy name, and have no idea for a girl name, so therefore maybe I'd get a girl... haha...
Belinda- I love Blakely/Blake.. I wanted Blake for a girl sooo bad.. Brody and Blake sounded cute together- I really WANTED to keep all the same letter- so all B names- but I dont think thats gonna happen now.
Sarah- Carter is one of my favorite names- except I nannied for a Carter for two years so now I just "cant" have that one, our friend just named their son Carson, I used to really love it but somehow after they used it it went down in rating for me- odd???
regdahl- Sorry I dont know your name!!- I know exactly what you mean- with Brody we just "found" the name and then it was set, this time it's going to be a lot harder!! I also like names that arent weird, yet arent super common... I HATE when I find a name I love and then I see its getting really popular.. gr!! Kevin is the opposite- the more "common" the better- UGH..

I LOVE Declan for a boy. It's been my favorite for 5+ years- but kevin wouldnt HEAR of it for Brodys name- he said it was too weird and not a real name (Hellloo Kyle XY?! haha).. Now I'm worried because it's the name of a character on a popular new TV show and I saw on a baby name site- nymbler? idk.. it was like #16 on peoples "likes".. yikes!!!!
I also love Aria for a girl- I had used to watch a boy whose sister was named Aria and I thought it was weird- but now I just love it, funny thing was it was #16 on the name site too for "likes" - which doesnt mean people USED it it just meant that they had rated it #16...
Argh!!! I know Kevin would hate it anyways- if we have a girl it's gonna be the hardest thing to find a name.> I feel like we'll end up at the hospital with no name bcuz we cant agree...

Kevin loves the show Dexter- so when I told him Declan was close to that this time around - he seemed to like it- and then when I got pregnant he casually asked how "declan" wasdoing- so Im assuming hes OK with that.. haha... I dont really care though- I feel like if these boys are going to outnumber me then i get to pick!!!

I had my DS and DD names picked out for sooo long, like years! Now this time around we have no clue. DH loves Alejandro (Alex , DH is 100% Portuguese) and I'm so so on it. I like Marcus and he's so so on it. the middle name would be Joao (John inPortuguese after his dad). When I was pg with DD our boy name was Marcus Joao but now DH is throwing other things out there. My brother died 5 years ago and his name was Shawn so I'd also like to maybe use that as a middle for something if it's a boy. For girls, I have no idea. I really love the name Faith right now and I 'd like the middle name to be either Brigitte, or Brietta ( My mom died 4 years ago and her name was Brigitte but pronounced Bree- git-ta, like in the Sound of Music) so I'd love for it to be a namesake of her since she always told me I'd have 3 kids. And she was my Mom of course. But the 2 don't seem to go very well. Glad we have alot of time!

I'd really love to name something of the name after my grandma- whose my closest family member.. but.. her name is Tommie Anne... so IDK where to begin with that...
I thought of like.. Annalynn for a girl- or trying to think of an Anne-something name... Tommie-- I dont really think I could do that in a girls name.. but wonder if I changed it to Thomas for a boys name if that would "work"? haha

Yep in full name finding swing right now! I have a list on my iphone. I am always thinking of names too we had our last two picked before I ever got pg. This time we dont really have a firm idea. Dh really wants Ryne (rhymes w/ mine) for a boy, he always has and I have to say its grown on me. The middle name will be James that was my great grandfather's name, is my greart uncle's name and is my uncle's name. For a girl her middle name will be Josephine after my maternal grandmother who passed when I was young. Dh is annoying about chosing names he never wants to discuss them he says he needs to think on it. Eventually I will pester him enough he will choose one. My fav right now is Elaina or Amaya but dh isnt too fond of Amaya and wont comment either way on Elaina.

My DH caved and gave me the boys name I loved with DS2, maybe Kevin is going ot do the same. Smile And I check the social security site, and Declan was #275 on the list of most popular boys names for 2010, so I really don't think you have to worry about it being too popular.

Since her name was pronounced like that could you try just Bree as a middle or maybe even first name?

I briefly brought up names last night, really only boys names because those are what we have the hardest time agreeing on. I asked if its another boy what will we call it, and he said Matthew. Yuck! I've said no to that before, its just too common and boring for my taste, I knew a LOT of Matts in school. So I told him maybe we could use it as a middle name since the boys have fairly traditional ones. The only boys name that I even remotely like at the moment is Boyd, So I told him maybe Boyd Matthew would be okay. He didn't seem to dislike it, and again if its another boy with this being our last baby and him knowing how badly I wanted a girl, I'm sure I'll get my way with the name. Smile

That's ok. My name is Regan. Biggrin

Declan is one that's on our list for a boy. I really like it but yes, even though it's a little different it's REALLY gaining popularity. That's why I'm hesitant. With my name, I hated it as a kid because no one else had my name, I could never get he cool pencils or rulers with my name pre printed on them  but now I like it. Regan is also gaining popularity but 33 years ago there were like NONE - that I knew anyway.

I like a bit of a unique name so there isn't a classroom full of them. For example, I graduated with 125 people and we had 6 Kellys in my class. Kelly is a great name and apparently was very popular the year we were born. LOL!

Hi Regan- I actually really like the name Regan!
Thats funny about the Kellys- the people I work for man/wife- are BOTH named Kelly, it's kind of funny!!

Declan- yeah its really low on the Social Security list- but thats 2010- I'm nervous by the end of 2012 it'll be way up there!
With Brody i knew NOBODY with that name, and never heard it/saw it anywhere- I even checked our local birth records they keep at the hospital- none... the day he was born there was ANOTHER Brody born the same day in our hospital, and another that month!! so irritating!!!
I wonder when the 2011 records will be out..or if they are... thats what kind of sucks about having an end of the year baby... I feel like all of the Ashleys in my classes parents didnt name them that thinking it would be the most popular name then- haha.. or maybe they did :)..

Amber- Kevin would like Matt too, kevin's suggestion with Brody was "trevor, melissa" ...nothing against those names but they are suuppperrrr common.. I dont want my child to have to go by Ashley M. or anything!

Amber - I LOVE the name Boyd. I had a great uncle by that name, but haven't heard of anyone else by that name. I like old names.

I was concerned with picking a too popular name when I named Mina. She's named after a great great great grandmother Wilhelmina so I knew I was good with her name. Her name is Mina Catherine. Wouldn't you know it, someone on preg.org named her daughter Mena Kathryn the month before my Mina was born. We both came up with the names independently and hadn't shared them on preg.org. It was bizarre. So anyway, I didn't even try to be unique the second time around. I gave up and named her Charlotte Anne because it was old and pretty. Biggrin

The 2011 records weren't out yet, but I'm sure you can find unofficial name popularity lists for 2011 on other baby sites.

And yeah, I don't want my kids to be ______ W., though unfortunately since Mason has really picked up popularity since we picked it, he may be Mason W. in a few classes. When I was pg with our first and I asked him about girls names, his pick was Jennifer. Are you kidding me? Every single generation has a million Jen's, Jenny's and Jennifer's, plus a few Jenna's. He just doesn't think about that sort of thing. His favorite names are like Matthew, Daniel, Jennifer, Ashley, pretty much every name that was overused in our generations.

We have brought it up a few times, but definitely not settled on anything. Finding another boys name is going to be especially hard. If its a boy I would really like to do something with one syllable because my first's name has two syllables and my second has three. Rylan, Oliver and (insert awesome one syllable name here) So far I like Jayce and Shoal.... I have a few longer names on the list too... Choosing a girl name would be refreshing....lol. I like so many!

ETA - I forgot to add that I recently fell in love with the name Isla for a girl. James said no already though Sad He changes his mind a lot though...;)

La123 - I love the name Oliver, but of course DH hates it! Why do men have to cramp our baby-naming style? Obviously we should be able to pick out all the names ourselves. Blum 3

My daughter is Marina and her nickname is Mina, well that's what all the kids call her. Mina or one of my nieces and one of my nephews call her Rina (Reena). Their (my niece and nephew) siblings call her Mina. It's funny!
