I think clomid is a no for me...

This is our 4th cycle TTC and I called the DR and said Im not sure if i'm ovulating and they said they will probably want to put me on clomid since i'm 37. I looked up clomid and i guess there is a high chance it can cause anxiety and I'm prone to anxiety. I was having panic attacks over the summer and had to get off zoloft before we could TTC in sept. so i don't want to take something that would cause me to have panic attacks and get on zoloft again Sad

anyone know of a fertitlity boost that doesn't cause anxiety?

I don't know much about any of the fertility meds, (am hoping we can conceive without them but it's not looking great since we've been TTC since November of 2010 which puts us at 13/14 mnths and we KNOW I don't always O)
just wanted to send some support and :bigarmhug: Smile

I'm temping now. I have been charting CM and using OPKs for over a year. I've also had bloodwork done over the last 6 months. My doc says I'm O'ing but not all the time (she also said it's not completely abnormal) we just don't know how often I'm not. That's why I'm trying temping in addition to the opk's. Last cycle I used opk's everyday for over 2 weeks and didn't get even a hint of a positive, the darkest it got was about 50% lighter than the control. I did have lots of EWCM so that's obviously not always a reliable sign, but some people never get it so I guess it varies. I've also had an HSG and DH had a SA and both were normal. Not sure what comes next for tests but I've got my fingers crossed we get pg on our own soon!

Hey Gina! I'm also prone to anxiety. I sometimes have panic attacks though I haven't been on medication for anxiety since high school and I'm not sure it helped then. I did three rounds of Clomid and by the third I wasn't doing so great but for me the first round was really pretty normal and the second was a little different but not much. I know that some people who have a hard time tolerating it will take it one month on and one or two months off or they'll take it two months then take a break...something like that so that it doesn't build up so much in their system that it starts causing problems. I don't even want to take it again because I struggled so much in the end but if it was my only option I'd only take it again if I could break up the cycles so that I didn't get too crazy. I hope this helps! I'd just talk to your doctor about it. The side effects are very different for everyone. Some people don't have any. It could also work very quickly and then you wouldn't have to worry about it. Good luck sweetie! I hope this helped you some.

Gina...Get a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I'm sure amazon has used copies that are cheap because it's been out for years. Use temps and opks (at least) to get a better idea of what is going on with your cycle. Clomid won't do anything if you're already ovulating and could cause additional problems (anxiety and thinner lining are two) that you could avoid by skipping the clomid. You could also ask your dr. to monitor your blood to confirm ovulation. They can check your progesterone level 7 days after you ovulate (temp shift and + opk) or cd21 (not as accurate because not all women o on cd14).

Hang in there! :bigarmhug:

Hi Gina (lol....I'm Jina too),

I'm sorry to hear that Clomid won't work for you due to anxiety. Have you thought about Femara? I've heard that Femara doesn't have as many side effects as Clomid so it might be worth talking to your OB about. Good luck! Biggrin
