Mom's with Thyroid Issues

I'm taking Synthroid for my Hypo-thyroidism. I'm supposed to take it 1st thing in the morning and wait an hour before eating. This is not usually a problem. I take the pill when I get up and I eat b'fast when I get to work. But I wake up SO hungry now. I might have to start taking my pill before I get out of bed and take a snack to eat on my way to work?

Also, how have you handled your pre-natal vitamins. With Synthroid, you're not supposed to take any supplements with Iron within 4 hrs of the pill. Last time I would try to take them with lunch but I often forgot. Any suggestions??

Glad you brought up this topic just had a call back from my initial prenatal blood work that showed My thyroid level was Low? I think they said low. Anyways I went back today for more blood work and he will decide if I need med's or not. Sorry I don't have answer but I know who to ask questions to when the dr calls me back !!!

Good Luck Sarah! I take it you did not have any Thyroid problems before?
It's not too bad. Finding the right dosage can be hard, but once you got that, it's just a matter of remembering to take your meds. I leave mine by the kitchen sink and I see them every morning when I go to make my tea to take to work.

I have a thyroid issue (hypo) as well but it is now on the borderline of normal. So I am off meds now. But I have another checkup and ultrasound on it in May. ( I hope, who knows if I can have it now being pg. I have a couple growths on the inside of my thyroid) Anyway, I think you should take them while you are still in bed, like set an alarm. As for prenatal, I cannot take them first thing in the morning. It made me so sick a couple weeks ago when I did. I normally take it before bed and am totally fine. So that's my 2 cents, take the prenatal before bed or with dinner??

Yeah I have hypothyroidism too. Taking my synthroid isn't an issue for me I take it right when I wake up and don't eat anything until after I take the kids to school. I am not hungry first thing when I get up it doesn't bother me. And I take my prenatal before bed I have to or I would prolly throw up or at least feel worse than I already do. I would do what you suggested and take it right away and then have a snack on the drive in. I suppose you could set an alarm for 2 hrs before you have to get up and take it then I have heard of people doing that I'd be afraid I couldn't get back to sleep tho.

I was hypothyroid and on medication. I went to get rechecked recently before TTC because my endocrinologist said that was important . . . to make sure everything was in check before then, but we found that somehow my hypothyroidism had resolved on its own. Weird. Anyway, I'm off the medication now, but when I was on it I did have to come up with tricks for taking it with enough time before breakfast.

Maybe take it during one of your middle of the night pee trips? Unless I'm the only one who is in the bathroom 5+ times throughout the night!
