I can barely control my excitement. She is due on wed but shes in so much pain and swollen the dr is going to srip her membranes today. Has anyone had this done? How long after before baby came? The dr told her normally the baby is her within 36hrs but ive heard sometimes it doesnt work.
This is my first niece and its my baby sister. I know im going to bawl like a baby when i hear shes in active labor and when the baby comes heck i cry watching a baby story let alone having it happen in person lol.
I just had to share my excitement!
I've had my membranes stripped with all my babies. It's not fun in fact it hurts like heck though I've heard some people say its not too bad. It depends on the person and how ready their bodies are for labor, how fast they respond. I tend to have a cervix like fort knox and I either don't go into labor when I have it done or like with my last (baby #6 mind you) at 39 wks dilated to 3 it took over 12 hrs before I even fully lost my mucus plug and had labor ctx and even then if I wasn't already scheduled for induction I might not have had her that day. I've talked to other people though who had their membranes stripped and had the baby a few hrs later even if they weren't dilated much. Congrats on being an auntie!
I had my membranes stripped at 40 weeks with my first and went into labor that night. I had her 24 hours later. I had my membranes stripped just shy of 39 weeks with my second and went into labor that night. I had her a few hours later. It obviously works for me, but my body had been kind of geared up for it already. It can definitely work if the baby and body are both ready!
I'm excited for you and her! I hope it goes really well.![]()
I'm pretty sure my OB did that for me with #2. I was already in early labor and nearly jumped off the table when she did it (and I was never told or asked, but being checked had never hurt me that much). I was going to have a baby that day regardless of the stripping of the membranes though.

How cruddy they would do that without telling you first!
My sister said it was pretty painful. She had it done at 1pm and so far nothing. She's not actually due until Wed the 28th but she's in pain and so swollen. The dr told her if it doesn't work they will induce Thursday morning. I'm kind of disappointed she hasn't had any progress or feeling anything![]()
I'm just impatient though lol
It could definitely still work! My MW said to walk and dtd afterwards if just for something to do lol even if it didn't start mt
labor. Hope she's in labor tonight!
