Nursery?

Anyone starting to think about/plan a nursery theme? We aren't really doing a theme. We moved into our house a year and half ago and painted every room. I really don't want to paint again so the walls are kind of a teal blue. We're doing fuschia, lighter pink and white with it. I'm starting to look for things like curtains, sheets, wall decor etc. I want to do it as low cost as I can since with DS I went overboard with the whole crib set etc...which we really never used much of for very long.

I'd love to hear/see what everyone is thinking!

Haven't done a darn thing, although the twins will be taking my dd's room and its already a real pretty lavender color so I think we will keep it that way! As far as a theme I am still undecided. I hate the thought of buying 2 crib sets since I never used the comforter it just hung on the wall. I may just get some cute crib sheets and cute curtains and maybe some sticker decals for the walls.I am slacking this time big time. And there is a good chance I only have 10-12 weeks left ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto to first post- I went waaaay overboard with DS and don't wanna do that again!!

Were remodling DS room and the spare room so HOPEFULLY they'll be done in a month or so- then starting fresh on DS room and THEN get to do the babys!

Im thinking of painting a blue color. Like turquoise or aqua or a really light blue- to match with pinks and browns or something.. I guess maybe deep down I have a fear that it'll still come out a boy and I dont want to repaint again.. hehe...

I just saw this set thats kind of cute http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3819648&searchURL=false

but this is the one that made me think of the blue walls http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3819637&prodFindSrc=rv
Trying to do something that can easily be adapted to a toddler room- Brody had ABC animals and I went wild with it buying everything that matched- then as soon as he was ready for his big boy room nothing could be reused- so I figure if I get like plain sheets or hampers and curtains and stuff that could last despite the "theme" that'd be a good idea!

Cait---Love the first bedding set!!!!

I am already in the process of putting together the nursery. With DD I couldn't paint the room because we were renting but I did a pink and brown theme. I painted shelves, letters and got pink and brown bedding. Then DD moved into our room and we moved our bedroom downstairs. When we did that I painted her new room (we bought the house by then). I painted the walls a tinkerbell green with white built in dressers and white closet door. Then I hung pink tulle from the ceiling the walls and pink curtains its super cute.

Anyway I thought if DD got a super cute room Alexis gets a super cute room to. And i can paint the room so that makes it funner. I just got the walls painted last week. 3 walls are pink and 1 one wall is grey. The wall that will have the changing table is grey. The bedding got delivered last week as well as the wall decal I ordered. I also painted the wood letters I got for her name at hobby lobby. I'll try to post pictures of what I have so far if i can remember how to do it. Smile

I'm kind of a nut with this stuff but so far I haven't really spent to much. The bedding set only cost $80ish and it came with the diaper stacker, 2 window valances, 2 crib sheets, the comforter, bumper and skirt. The wall decal was $29 and her letters were $.99 a piece at hobby lobby so a total of $8 and then the paint for the walls.

I hung the window valances the other day, I need Dh to hang her letters above the closet doors. Then I just need the mattress, a dresser and white curtains.

You all probably think i'm crazy Smile but I love it and Dh says i can do whatever I want as long as I don't go crazy spending money.

I'll probably go crazy, but I haven't even started yet. We need to get new window valences and bedding and paint. I might even paint the dresser that has never matched (both the crib and organizational shelves are a chocolate brown and the dresser is much lighter). Or I'll have DH do it. Wink

I can't decide on a color scheme. I'm thinking turquoise, lime green, brown, orange...but not all of those at once. I'm also thinking of doing stripes, chevron, or blocks of color on one wall. We'll do something kind of neutral for the bedding and windows so it won't be too crazy. It's fun to think boy.

This is her name I painted. They will go above the closet doors, a pink background.

Baby will be in our room for the first few months and then after that she will share a room with her sisters, so we will just use my DD's bed set that she had.

I love what you've done, Chaise. It's so girly, but sophisticated. Biggrin

Gray is so in right now and I'd consider it, but I'm unsure since we have cream floors. I'd probably have to do an area rug to tie it all together.

Our nursery will likely just be a hodge-podge of leftover bedding. I would love to do a full on proper nursery for once, since I never have had the opportunity to, but we just can't afford it. If money was no object I would get this set, and a bunch of the extras like the hamper, floor rug, change pad, wall border, etc, but for everything I would want to get it would be $350, which we seriously don't have. Sad

I am nearly all done but that's because I'm not sure if I'll wind up going earlier than expected. Since we plan on selling our house once these twins are born, leaving the walls off-white and doing "peel and stick" stickers instead. Since these are b/g twins we are doing a prince/princess theme, I got name plaques from Ababy.com, olive green curtains, blue & pink breathable bumpers, etc. No bedding, just the breathable bumpers which we used before and really like. I'll have to take some pics once all finished but the room is super tiny, smallest room in the house (hence selling and moving).

Us too. I just bought sheets to tie in to my 'color scheme' and we'll use our breathable bumper. We LOVED it with DS! The full crib bedding sets are such a racket if you ask me. I mean they are so cute but you aren't supposed to use blankets or bumpers so you get them for the skirt and sheets...so I went with a set that you could buy individual pieces and just bought those 2 things.

Im with you guys on the bumpers!!!
I never had/knew about them with DS but saw other people use them later- and the whole bedding set seemed like such a waste of money- I think we spent over 200 dollars, and barely used the bumper- the sheet wasnt even very great material- and they cant use the comforter!

So I figured I'd find a plain/cute crib skirt- soft better made crib sheets that match and could be used on toddler bed- and a breathable bumper.
What color bumpers did you guys get? I've only seen the white in person but I kinda wanna try out the brown or pink!

PS. Chaise I love it!! I saw something similar- the tree thing- and Im thinking of doing turquoise walls, with one really dark chocolate wall and putting the tree on there - its a WHITE tree like birch or IDK what it is- it'd really POP.

Kevin just finished mudding the closets- so now this weekend he's going to take the sliding door out and put in a window! eek!! so excited to have it looking like a real room!! then we've got to texture that, finish the closets/put new doors and trim/paint/move brody into that room.... then start all over on Brodys room for the baby!!!!

its hard because IDK what the furniture will look like yet. My sister said we could have hers and its like an oak or a honey or some "wood" color... and I really wanted to buy new again- but trying to be frugal and thinking it'd be dumb to buy all new- but could paint it I suppose!!! Cant WAIT to get started!!! Tired of hoarding all of my baby stuff into the upstairs bedrooms!!

I bought the Breathable Bumpers on Amazon.com for a great price, they have several colors to choose from too. Also got the Trend Lab Long Narrow Cribwrap Rail Covers from Amazon since they're cheaper on there. My UPS guy loves me lately, haha.

Our breathable bumper is white because when we bought it they only had white, pink, blue and green. White was the only one that went with our nursery colors for DS. Now they have all kinds of colors. I wish I could justify buying a new one but white will work with our nursery this time so we'll just use it.

We have a white breathable bumper that we use until they're older, then we do use the pretty one. We also use a blanket and pillow in the crib at around 18 months (if I'm remembering correctly).

I'm loving using pinterest.com to keep track of decorating ideas. I could hardly fall asleep last night because I was thinking about decorating the girls' room and the nursery. Lol

Pinterest is my obsession especially lately. I've got the same problem I get ideas and then my brain is flooded imagining how it will look in her room or how I can incorporate what I just saw. Smile

The baby will be downstairs in our room anyway for the first few months so the bedding is more of a decoration for now. When the baby can roll and be in the crib herself the bumpers will come out. You can get breathable bumpers at target or babies r us in multiple colors. With DD we didn't use them but we might this time around. I wanted to get a set before. We definitely don't use bumpers when the baby is small.

As far as the comforter. DD didn't use her's either until she was old enough to have a blanket in bed with her and now she uses is. She's kind of short and tiny anyway so it's perfect size for her. We will probably do the same thing with this baby, take the comforter out until she's old enough to have a blanket.

I've started pinning idea's on pinterest for our upstairs bathroom. It'll be the "girls'" bathroom so i want to do it really cute. Its right between the girls' room to. I have been waiting to find out if we were having a girl or a boy but now that we are having 2 girls I can decorate/paint it all cute. Pinterest is amazing for this kind of stuff!!!

I won't be doing a nursery until next year. We are going to be moving Nov/Dec. We plan for baby girl to be rooming with us her first few months. So, I couldn't bring myself to switch some of our boys to a different bedroom, and decorate a nursery that won't be used. But, I've got ideas pinned too! I'm planing to do mostly white and pale blue, with little accents of red. I want it to be a very glamour girl feel, but not "girly" colors.
You all need to post more pictures!! I love looking at other people's decor!!

I just bought this theme bedding for the baby
http://www.diapers.com/p/carters-monkey-rockstar-4-piece-set-312448?site=CA&utm_source=cse&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_term=QI-1648&utm_campaign=Google&CAWELAID=1352055539&utm_content=pla&cagpspn=pla&ci_kw=%7Bkeyword%7D

But I didn't buy the actual set. Although, the 4 piece set isn't too bad. The only thing I wouldn't use is the comforter. Still, I bought the mobile, valance, soft blankie, and wall stickers. BRU had a 20% off bedding accessories sale on that stuff. They offered my 50% off the last lamp bc it was broken, but it was in too bad of shape so I ditched it. I bought BRU brand sheets (3 for 20% off) and changing covers (2 for 25% off). All in all I spent under $200 but not sure exactly, bc I bought other stuff for DD. oh and my mom found a cute little monkey that plays music when you squeeze it so we got that too.
I may still look for a skirt and a lamp, but they are not necessities. And I'll probably make wall art/letters. I have breathable bumpers and I'm using DD's baby furniture so we are in good shape. Now we need to clear out the guest room, sheet rock the wall, paint and get new flooring. That all DH's dept. (except maybe the paint)!

Does anyone know of any good quality and not too pricey cribs and gliders? We are starting to plan our nursery (we can't technically put it together yet but we wanted to get some ideas) and I have no idea where to start! There are so many options! We're thinking something simple and white so we can have more freedom with the rest of the decor; we aren't finding out what we are having and are thinking about a white and taupe or gray palette. Thanks!

I bought a nursery set we found at Burlington.
http://www.nurserybabybedding.com/eddie-bauer-enchanted-hollow-baby-crib-bedding.html

But because of our dilemma of having the baby (boy) be in our music room, I'm gonna sell this unused set ( we bought everything for it and even a tree wall decal, mobile, basket, lamp, etc)

And being DH is a musician, I am having a bedding set made from Etsy and the room is a music theme. I'm making an instrument mobile and we have awesome pics already hanging in that room along with DH's Les Paul guitar. So I think it will all work nice! My bedding set has a 12 week wait list however but I"m excited Smile
