So very tired...

I'm so completely exhausted already I'm not sure how long I can keep this up!!!

As I've mentioned, DH is away for work M-F for the next 6 weeks, which leaves me with my DD (ADHD and ODD - yay) and our 2 dogs (100lb golden and a 40lb border collie/husky cross). I was a single mom when I met DH and I had the golden then as well, not the ideal situation but I had been used to doing it all on my own so the divorce didn't really put a lot of extra on my plate.

A few short years later and somehow the addition of the 1 puppy has added so much more that I'm so exhausted by then end of the day I'm in bed by 8:30 pm!! Perhaps it's also that DH is extremely helpful and I am no longer used to doing it all on my own....

I am worried about how I will survive the next 5 weeks (or more)....

I'm so sorry! i can't even imagine the stress you are under right now. I live right by an Air Force base here in charleston SC and most of my friends are military wives. Its so hard cuz their husbands will be gone for 6 months at a time and I can't even imagine how hard this is! I will send some prayers your way!

Thanks Smile
I work on the Military base here (civilian tho) and I'd never want to be an army wife! At least DH doesn't have to travel for work often, this is a great opportunity for him, hopefully he'll get a promotion out of this but it doesn't make it easier.

I don't know how I used to do it anymore, I'm lucky that my folks live over our garage so a few nights a week my mother watches DD so I can go to the gym or I'd never have a chance! Still I get home and have lunches to pack, laundry to do, dogs to feed, a house to clean. Makes me appreciate my wonderful loving man and just how much he does for me/us more than ever!

We have a 17 m.o. and many pets (including 3 dogs). I have a DH here and still get exhausted! I can't tell you how many times I have looked at my DH and said, "I don't know how single parents survive." Seriously, I don't! Hopefully, your body will adjust and you'll find a rhythm soon!

I have a friend who's DH was in teh military, while waiting for his release she lived here with their 2 boys (aged 4 and 1 and the time) while he was on the other side of the country - for at least 6 months, then he moved home and almost immediately went to firefighter school - another 6 months I believe. I seriously don't know how she handled it, I don't think I could have for that long!

(((hugs))) Crystal! Working AND taking care of your family is soooo hard to do alone. Sad My hubby was working 45 days straight before the holidays and even that took a toll on me. And I'm a SAHM! At least when he came home I could escape and take a shower. For you, leave an ADHD child alone for a min? Hah! (You know, speaking from experience Smile )I'm sorry I have no good input for overcoming the exhaustion and frustration. Coffee IV?

My DH is in the military so I know that tiredness you speak of well. DH was gone for four months at the beginning of last year. I was by myself with my 3 DS, our pet frogs, and was working full-time (plus a commute), going to school full-time, and insisting on getting to the gym 3 times a week. It was a mad house.

Here are a few things that helped me. I counted down days until DHs return. I gave up kids having to have perfectly clean rooms. If the living room and bathroom were tidy, I was happy. We might have eaten a lot more quickie dinners than I like to admit. I taught my kids to make their own lunches with minimal supervision and they had to get themselves fed breakfast and dressed for school without my help. Some days were better than others.

You can do it Crystal! Come vent here often!

Thanks Kim!
I'm so glad DH gets to come home on the weekends! It really helped me recharge. And i am very excited that I was able to organize child/doggy care for the weekend of the 21st (that's around when I should O!) so I can go visit him up there Smile We'll be going to look at houses since it's looking pretty good for us moving in the spring - unfortunately that means we'll be doing this longer than 6 weeks. Since I can also take some time off work, my supervisor suggested I take a few days and surprise him by arriving early! I was set to possibly miss my O since the predicted day is a thursday but now I'll be able to go visit him and shouldn't miss it!! Yay Smile Maybe this WILL be our month afterall!

Crystal, what great news on so many levels. (except for hubby being gone even longer) That is so great you get to have a little romantic 'vacation' just you and him. You should get some cute lingerie and make it your early Valentines. Wink

I was totally thinking of that too! LOL He's not much into that stuff but he loves matching bra and panties lol. Time for a trip to La Senza!
Last week I slipped a cute pic of DD in his bag, didn't have time to sneak anything in this time but I might send him a voice note on BBM of me giggling (he LOVES my giggle for some reason and will tickle me relentlessly just to hear it every day!).

I'm surviving! Yesterday was awful - crazy dogs and lots of screaming and crying in the morning.
I'm hoping today will be better, and so far it's started out ok. At least it's wednesday already Smile
