Trouble at Work....

I work in a law firm with two attorneys and 5 girls (support staff, including myself). I am the first girl in the office to get pregnant. I am trying my best to not play the "pregnancy card." So far, the only tasks I refuse to do are to carry heavy things and go up and down the stairs 100 times a day. (our office is located in a historic home, my office is on the second floor). I really wasn't too bad with morning sickness, etc. but the few times I did have to go home and lay down for a while, I was treated like I had the plague. One girl even got on my computer and was reading my personal emails. I am NOT slacking in my duties, but the girls here are treating me differently. I don't need them as friends, but we do have to work together and if we can't get along, the next few months are going to be terrible!!! Anyone have any suggestions or similar stories to share? At this point, anything will help!

Sorry your coworkers are being sucky. I know it's easier said than done, but can you be direct and tell them you feel as if you are being treated differently? I hope it gets better.

Oh I know how you feel. My boss and I have had a disagreement of sorts about my job since I got pregnant. Lets just say it was pretty bad I was lossing sleep, coming home crying and very stressed. I was worried about baby and my health so I stepped down from position. Although it felt pretty forced. She made some comments about me being pregnant. And DH has told me if I get fired for some reason he is fully prepared to sue for pregnancy discrimination. Its been pretty bad.

That's awful. Sad No advice except to say that it sounds like maybe they are jealous of you or something. I would definitely speak up though.

Well, I spoke up and one of the law partners held a staff meeting. He discussed how we all need to help each other out, especially if someone is ill. I really appreciated that but it made me look like I was getting preferential treatment. Needless to say, that didn't help at all. I am 30 years old. I am not in high school. This is just crazy! My husband and I discussed it and I am going to continue working here as long as I can (make decent money here) and we will go from there. It just blows my mind how these women act like such little girls!!
