6 week u/s
It went well.
The tech did abdominal first and I clearly saw a sac, but not much else. Of course, she wanted to look at ovaries and all before anything else (why do they do that?)
Then she switched to vaginal. I saw the sac and as she went past it I saw a glimpse of grey inside. YES! Then I saw another black blob. Um, what? I didn't ask about it at that point. It was clearly a little smaller than the sac, but my mind was running in circles. I've had 4 u/s with other pregnancies at 6 - 7 1/2 weeks and never seen anything like that. I'll admit, the word twins was at the forefront of my mind. But I couldn't see anything in it. Not that she really gave me a chance.
Finally she focused on the sac and I saw the yolk clearly and then.... the flicker. It was beautiful. She managed to catch it and the HB registered at 116bpm. Awesome for 6 weeks. She tried to measure the blob and whatever she measured was right on for dates. Then I asked about the other black blob. "Oh that? It's probably just some bruising from implantation. We see it sometimes." I had to ask: "So, it's not twins?" "No!" I've had no bleeding, but she seemed pretty confident. As she measured it I did think for a moment I saw a yolk sac in it, but, honestly, she's the trained tech, so I'm going to believe her. I have a picture, but it's not very good. It doesn't show the second black blob and it's not like the baby-blob looks like anything yet other than a little blur. So... I won't bother posting it.
