I got a call today from the dr saying she wants to do a follow up ultrasound. She didn't like my amniotic fluid volume, and she said the heartbeat was low.
From everything I've read 112 is pretty normal for 6 weeks 3 days.... I'm not sure why she's unhappy with that.
I don't anything about amniotic fluid volume.
Now just waiting for the next ultrasound. Hate waiting. Hate worrying. Hate not knowing.

Susan, ((((Hugs)))) Waiting and worrying is the worst! When is your follow up ultra sound? I agree that 112 doesn't sound unusual for 6 weeks 3 days. I went back and looked at mine, and at our first u/s (which I believe was like 5w6d or something like that) our h/b was 98. So 112 6w3d sounds just about right to me. Maybe she's just being ultra cautious? Sorry hon, that is so hard to think that something could be wrong. I hope your follow up is very soon so you don't have to sit and stew for too long. (((Hugs)))
Thanks Alissa.![]()
I'm feeling a bit calmer now. I definitely don't think it's far out of range (if it is out of range). I know I've been stressed from moving and dehydrated from feeling lousy, so I'm going to relax alot, rest a ton, and drink as much water as I can choke down.
I don't have long to wait, it's next Monday morning.![]()
I really feel deep down, that everything is fine, and the dr is just being careful. I guess we'll see how good my intuition is next week!![]()

I don't know anything about the amniotic fluid volume at this stage either. It's so early I'm a little skeptical that can be much of a factor but IDK. Anyway, just wanted to say there is nothing wrong with that heart rate. It looks right on target for the gestation from everything I've seen. Try not to worry too much...
ETA: Just saw your last reply...I totally agree. Everything about your first post said overcautious doctor to me. Which is good that they are watching closely but sometimes I think docs can cause more worry than is needed.
I agree with this. I'm at a BC, and the only reason they even did a confirming u/s on me was because I'm on progesterone due to two early m/cs before I had my DD. Otherwise they don't even normally see you until 8-12 weeks, and definitely don't run u/s before that. 112 sounds fine to me...never heard anyone mention fluid this early! Hope it's just a case of overcautiousness. KUP.
Hope you don't mind me lurking
Sounds to me like your doc is just being extra-cautious. I wouldn't worry too much. But like you said, be sure to drink an assenine amount of water each day. (I hate water so any amount is assenine to me.) AND if you're having trouble keeping it down, maybe your doc would prescribe zofran? Water intake is directly related to amniotic fluid and dehydration isn't good in any stage of pregnancy, so im sure the Zofran would be a reasonable request.
Low fluid in the first trimester could lead to baby leaning against or being squished into the uterine walls, whereas he/she should be floating around in the amniotic fluid. Glad your doc is being proactive, but like I said, I don't think it sounds too worrysome. Hope you get some relief at your next u/s![]()

I hope everything looks good on Monday. I'll be thinking of you. I'm glad your doctor is being cautious and keeping an eye on things.
