    Default 28 week appointment

Had my 28 week appointment today. It took forever again. Glad I had a sitter come to the house to watch the three other kids. Had a quick u/s to check the placenta and it has moved up far enough to not be a problem at all. Baby was head down... already pretty low the tech said and still a girl. Guesstimated weight: 2 lbs. 6 oz. already. Went and had blood drawn for the glucose test and they wanted to check my Vit. D levels as they were a little low before and I have been taking supplements. And then I sat in the exam room for 35 minutes, waiting to see the OB for a five minute chat. My blood pressure was actually a bit on the low side (101/63) today, but nothing to worry about. She wanted to start me on bi-weekly appts, but I begged to go at least three week since I haven't had a single problem. So all in all a GREAT appt.

I only got an u/s at this appt because they wanted to check the placenta to make sure it had moved up and out of way as it was really close to the cervix at my 20 week check. I probably won't get another unless they want to check babies size/position around 38/39 weeks.

Glad to hear about the placenta, it's not something anyone wants to worry about! Isn't it nice to go to the doc ALONE? I haven't had to bring my crew yet...I'm not even sure they'd all fit in Kaiser's tiny rooms!

Oh Kaci!! I get the joy of taking mine with me. and of course Miller mucks up something shocking there. He's usually really well behaved, but the switch flick whenever we're there!

It's rare that I get to go anywhere by myself. Since I knew it was going to be a longer appt, I asked a high school girl from church if she could come to the house for a couple of hours. Well worth the $25 I paid her, to not have to entertain kids for a long period of time in the dr. office.

I either take the sick time to go during work when Adair is in school, or right now I can go in the late afternoon and DH can watch her (he's on summer break--teacher). I used to bring her when she was a baby and a nurse would watch her but a toddler...shudder!
