So I'm nesting, really badly. But since I can't stand up for more than 10 minutes without fainting, I need to find some outlet for my nesting energy.
My last baby I was busy making lots of stuff for him. I made the bassinet skirt and bedding, lots of swaddling blankets, a cover for the car seat etc etc.
So for this baby, we don't really need anything. We have more clothes, blankets, and miscellaneous baby paraphernalia than we will ever need. But I feel like I need to make something for him. I just can't justify spending time and money on a project that we don't need. We don't have a nursery, since he'll be squeezed into his big brother's room, so no nursery decorating.
Any ideas on something useful that I could make? I can do most crafty things (sew, knit, crochet, embroider)
I had pinned a whole bunch of little ideas if we were having a boy. Here are some of them.

Baby #3 due Oct 1st!!
We don't need much either, but I'm planning to make a little mobile (saw a pic of hot air balloons hand sewn with felt that I thought would be a good while-watching-tv-in-the-evening project)
I have a kids clothing business (hobby level, but we consign at a local store and sell custom orders and at fairs) and one of our most popular items is these chair straps for babies from sitting up to 2yo or so...they are AWESOME to roll up and throw in your diaper bag and always have a safe, comfy seat for your kiddo--you can make any chair into a high chair, or use it in a grocery cart or restaurant high chair with ineffective or broken straps...they're just really, really handy. And simple to make, if you sew! I can send you pics and measurements if you're interested.
Thanks for all the ideas guys! I've never been to Pinterest before, lots of good ideas on there. That idea for the grocery cart cover is good. I never thought about that. I've seen them around and always thought it was a good idea. Any plans you have for that would be great.
That's the instruction card we use, so you can see what it looks like/how it works. I'm not 100% sure of the measurements off the top of my head, but as long as it's close, it's fine. This one is the commercial one that we based our pattern on...I am pretty sure on the ones we make, the strap part is 40" long x 5" wide, and the little T part is 5" wide by 6" long. The big back rectangle I am really guessing, but I want to say 11" x 16" or something like that? All you need is any thicker machine-washable fabric and some batting, with a strip of sew-on velcro. They are awesome--I used mine allllllllll the time
nice idea for the chair! I might have to make one.
I've been crocheting little teddy bears recently. They're mostly for a craft fair, but my kids have requested I make one for each of them and one for the baby. I've also crocheted a few cocoons (some for photos or while holding the newborn and some extra large ones to use as blankets over a swaddle). I have to knit a baby blanket sometime. The older kids each have one. But we want to know first whether it should be red or pink! I haven't done much sewing yet, but I have some cloth diaper supplies and will hopefully get around to sewing some newborn size diapers.
