I'm sure having been through this all multiple times before, you've already had some experience with books for your existing kiddos about what to expect. But just in case, I wanted to recommend the Dr. Sears Children's Library books Baby on the Way and What Baby Needs in case you haven't tried them already. I got them from the library and now I need to buy them because my daughter LOVES them, and is really learning from them (she keeps quoting from them when the subject of my pregnancy comes up, lol)
Baby on the Way (Sears Children Library): Martha Sears, William Sears, Christie Watts Kelly, Renee Andriani: 9780316787673: Amazon.com: Books
Really excellent in terms of giving lots of information in a very age appropriate (and easy to tailor) way, and I also like that their portrayal of pregnancy/birth/babies is so much more in line with the way we do things than many of those books (shows breastfeeding, says "doctor or midwife", shows a birth center, etc.) They also talk a lot about the kid's role in the whole family transition, making her feel included and important.
If anyone else has any recommended favorites, please do share!
Hummm... we just have some generic books about babies in bellies and new babies coming to the family. Nothing specific though... we just talk openly with our kids when questions come up and that seems to help, but I'm going to go look at the online catalog for our library and see if I can get those by next week!
Joanna Cole has done some good ones which are easy for little kids to understand.
My boys love "when you were inside Mommy" and "I'm a big brother". Her 1980s-1990s "the new baby at your house" is really good, too. The kids love that it is full of photographs.
"waiting for baby" by Ziefert is wonderful. It's all about an impatient sibling wonder when his new baby will finally come.
