DH and I are stuck in a dilemma with Baby Boy #2's name. Our DS1 is Bentley James. He likes Camden and I semi-like it but I like Joshua more. We have no middle names picked. I think Camden is a little hard to say and that's why I'm leaning against it... Plus it's Cam for short and I'm not sure I even remotely like that! What are your thoughts?
Nice suggestion! I like Camden best. I guess I was trying to find a name everyone liked and that is hard. My mom hates Camden and she hated Bentley. I wanted to try to get a grandbaby's name she liked as she won't be around the whole time he grows up, but it is what it is I suppose. I'll keep thinking!
I vote for Camden as well. I like the nickname 'Cam'. I wouldn't worry too much if your mom hates the name. My mom hated my oldest's name and refused to call him that when I was pregnant. She even had a pretty offensive nickname for him. But once he was born, she came around. It's hard to explain, but I think most people are more accepting of a name once the baby has been born. It just becomes who they are as a person and part of welcoming them to the family is accepting them, name and all. Which is one reason we aren't telling anyone this time around (though we haven't picked one yet either).
Lurker from Nov:
I LOVE the name Camden, but am definitely biased I also think the nickname Cam is cute and I feel like he gets called both about the same amount. We loved the name Camden James, but I decided I didn't want him to be C.J. so we came up with a different middle name, so that's just something to think about if you do a J middle name! I also was surprised at the amount of people who thought it was a girl and my Cam's old daycare lady used to call him "Cammy", which I really didn't like! His last teacher at daycare called him "Cam, Cam", which for some reason totally fits him and I call him that sometimes! Oh, and his teacher at daycare now has an accent and can't say his name and calls him Candem, which kind of drives me a little crazy, so I make sure I always call him Cam instead when I drop him off.
Ok, that was a lot about the name Camden! I love it and have gotten mostly positive feedback! My parents couldn't stand it when I was preggo (and always talked about Camden, NJ), but it has definitely grown on them because it's now attached to a cute little grandson and not just a random name!
I really really like the name, even love Cam too. What about Campbell?
The issues with your mum are 100% the reason why I don't tell anyone my names until after they're born. It think it's really rude to say stuff like that about someone's name they've picked.
