    Default First obstetrician appointment....ever! xp

For my boys I used the public system and had midwives for their deliveries, but this time we have moved. I've worked with her and have also had a gynae procedure done with her and she's lovely. So I thought why not continue this journey with her. I have my first appointment with her on Monday and I'm a bit nervous. What happens at them? I need to talk to her about my fear of having a C-section.

I'm actually in the same position! I had wonderful midwives when I had Meg and Marc, but now we have moved, and there is no team of midwives at this hospital. So we are trying an obgyn. I had a confirmation appointment, but the first real prenatal appointment is March 25. I'm also wondering about csection and what their rate of csection is at this hospital.

I had an OB with my first two and a MW with my third and, honestly, there wasn't much difference. With the OB I had one induced/epi delivery (DS1, almost a c/s because he was in distress and got stuck almost crowning and needed a vacuum, went to NICU, etc) and one completely natural delivery (DS2). With the MWs I had an induced/epi delivery (DS3, water broke but no contractions so they induced about 18 hours later). So, there are very nice, reasonable OBs out there. I hope you both find one.

ETA: actually, I did dislike one of the OBs at the first practice because she was SO inclined to intervene all the time. The other 4 were great, though. and I have had one issue with my MW practice. The don't ever want to do episiotomies. Which is great, but I had 3rd degree tearing with DS1 and 2nd degree episiotomy with DS2 and even telling them I'd tear badly they still resisted, so I ended up with 2nd-3rd degree tearing with DS3 and needed an OB to come stitch me up. I plan to insist on an episiotomy this time. There's going to be damage, I'd rather it be easy to repair!
