Default If you work, when are you telling your boss?

I have a... difficult... relationship with my boss. It's personal, she doesn't like me, but she tried to pull some stuff a couple years ago and was unsuccessful.

I'm not sure when to tell her. Last time I had a different boss, same company, and told him right away, but didn't tell the rest of the office for awhile. I actually got a promotion that very day that was planned, but had no clue about!

Now I don't know if I want to tell her now, or wait awhile. If I tell her I probably have some protections (since pregnancy is a protected class), but I don't know.

When will you be telling your employer? Any advice for me?

I told the vice principal, principal and director right away (they are my 3 supervisors going up the line), and they are thrilled for me. Actually, the director mentioned that she was planning a promotion for me to central registrar, and that she thought she could work the timing out right for me to train someone, take my time, then come back to the new one. They are great supportive people, I'm lucky.

I'm sorry about the stuff with your boss, that sounds terrible. Any chance for a transfer to a different supervisor??

The boss is terrible. No real option to transfer. It is MUCH better than it was before, but just not my favorite situation. I'm just not making any waves right now, because I'll probably only stay here another 4-5 months at most and then I'll "retire" and stay home. That was the plan before I got pregnant and I'll just pay for COBRA insurance through my pregnancy/delivery. I've been here 5.5 years, and I'm over it.

I'll probably tell her next week, she's out of the office today anyway.
