Has everyone else pretty much settled on one? We haven't even started talking about them yet. Hopefully tomorrow we'll confirm the gender so we can start working on it. Last time we narrowed it down then read the list to DS1 and he picked one which stuck. This time I think we might do something similar. I doubt at this point we have any boy names we feel we need to use, and it's kind of fun to let his brothers have some input.
Of course, if it turns out to be a girl it's a whole different story. ;)
Good question. We DID have a name we were like 95% on, but I just couldn't stop looking...feeling like the door was a little open and wanting to make sure that name was REALLY IT...and sure enough, now we have two names. Sigh. We both like both names, but I think I am leaning toward the new one, and I think DH is feeling a little attached to the old one, so...
We've agreed to just sit on them and let it percolate for a while at this point...we may make a decision before the birth, but we may end up just waiting to see which seems to fit better at birth, since they have extremely different personalities...which is a really weird concept to me, but I keep hearing people just "knew" so...maybe!
We sat down and decided on DD1's name the day we found out it was a girl, ha!
We had DS1's name set by the end of the day I found out I was pregnant (Raymond). It was just logical. It was traditional, but not common. And my family is big on family names and it managed to honor that tradition really well. With the others I felt like I could just choose what I wanted. DS2 we had it down to 2 quickly (Alexander or Zachary). DS3 took forever. He was going to be Arthur, then DS1 liked Oliver and we were stuck on the two. I think we finally settled on Oliver at 38w and he was born a few days later.
We've never discussed girl names. We realized very quickly when I was pregnant with #1 that we didn't agree on much for girls.
Yeah, with DD1 we had to stop discussing boy names early on because we were getting into some seriously heated arguments, and I didn't want to go down that road if we didn't have to! Fortunately, we didn't. Although this time we agreed on a boy name the day we decided to get pregnant again and now it's the girls that are causing us trouble, so........
(our boy name was Emmett Paul...first name because we both just happened to really like it, and Paul for my dad, who passed away right after our wedding. Since this is our last baby and we won't ever be able to use that like I wanted, we're going with Louise for the middle name, which was my dad's mom.)
I would make lists of names I liked (usually read them in a book or heard them in a movie or TV show) and then from there I gave the list to my husband to narrow down. This time, he actually picked the names off the list. Last time he picked a few he liked and whatever name sounded really good with the middle names I had written down was what we went with (which happened to be Desmond Jensen).
The names he chose weren't my top ones, so I sort of wanna fight for the names I really liked ha ha, but at the same time this is the first time he actually said what names he really liked off the lists so I'll probably let him choose the name of #4 :)
My top pick for a girl was Amara. I absolultely love that name, but it wasn't DH's favorite. Then for a boy I really liked Macon but my husband hated that it rhymed with bacon lol.
We are completely undecided. Completely. We were leaning toward Kylee for a while, then last night my husband made it clear that he wasn't set on that name. It's such a process! We definitely wouldn't say anything for sure, until we meet this baby (and make sure it really is a girl, haha!) but I like to have a good idea of what it will probably be. Of course, with Owen, we were both pretty set on Jasen and that's NOT who came out! Owen came out! So...we shall see. MY top contenders are Kylee, Shiloh, Hope, and I sort of like a few others but not 100% in love with anything at this point.
If we don't have anything decided by the time she comes, we will just get to know her for a bit and I'm sure we'll figure it out!
Here's what we did for DD1 (which I got from another pg.org mama): We kind of generally talked about it, but making no decisions, and we each kept our own running lists of names. When we decided to pick, we each sat down and wrote out our final top ten, in no particular order. Then we swapped lists and each vetoed 5. Then we put what was left into a master list and each ranked it. The highest match won. So, Adair was #2 for both of us, so that was the name we went with. Nobody felt overruled, and we both LOVE her name with passion now, so...it works!
I think we are set with Delaney "Laney" Giada. :) We had DS and DD1's names chosen pretty much before they were even conceived. My DH is so easy going with the whole name picking thing. He lets me do the research, come up with the names I like, (and their meanings, which is really important to us) and then he'll look at the list of names I've made and we'll talk about what's my favorite and why and so far, he said that sounds good to him. We haven't used any family names... too much family to do that. Easier for us to just avoid family names completely.
