Now that we are all nearing the third trimester... What is everyone buying? Anyone have a baby registry going? What kind of baby preparations are you making?
DH and I plan on ordering our carseat and caddy this weekend and I need to pick out a girlie homecoming outfit, since I can't use the gymboree boy n/b boy outfit I bought. :/
Other than that, I just bought a few more nb cloth diapers. That's it so far.
The big thing is that we just bought a Boba 3G. Our Ergo was already a hand-me-down and getting pretty beat, and DD1 finally started complaining about it hurting her legs...she'd been happy in it even though she'd long outgrown it until just about a month ago. I'm hoping the Boba we can use for her now (we don't carry her much anymore, but it's nice to have the option!) and then for DD2 once she is too big for the ring sling (last time that was around 6m).
Thankfully, we are set with car seats and all the big stuff like that. I did buy some socks on Baby Steals the other day...it's one thing I remember being such a pain with DD--finding ones that would stay on!--and since she was a summer baby, we don't have any tiny ones anyway. They had some really nice Robeez on there the other day so I stocked up
We need a new infant car seat because ours expired. But we'll hold off on that for a bit. I'm not really buying anything right now. I'm still feeling pretty cautious (which makes DH think I'm nuts). Maybe once we start talking names (once we know the gender) I'll start getting things.
I did get a possible homecoming outfit. I found some preemie sleepers for $1 each. I sure hope I don't have to use them, though!
big boy 12.8.07 @ 39+2 7lbs 8oz, 20.5" BFed for 13 months
middle boy 8.12.09 @ 39+4 7lbs 9oz, 21" BFed for 13.5 months
little boy 4.26.11 @ 38+4 6lbs 14oz, 19.5" BFed for 26 months
baby boy 10.25.13 @ 41+0 8lbs 15oz, 21.5"
8.16.12 & 12.16.12
I am too!! I have NO concrete reason to be worried, but I just don't feel like spending money until she's, like, HERE. I had really better get on it with the diapers, though, since we'll need those pretty much right away! (Last time we did sposies until the cord came off, though, since her cloth would have come up too high, so even that I guess I could procrastinate on )
Oh I WANT a Boba too!
But, I don't really need one. I have a BabyBjorn (which I don't like at all, but DH will wear it some), a BabyHawk, An Ergo (with the infant insert), A Moby, 2 Hotslings, a Baby K'Tan, and I think one more sling from SevenSlings... But, I'd really like to try a Boba too. And I think I might wanna try a ringsling this time around too... something I've never had.
I decided on the color of chicco infant seat last night, "FOXY"... think that is the one we are getting! I did find an gymboree outfit I like... (all the other kids have had gymbo outfits with matching blankets as their homecoming outfits, except DS who had a Children's Place one), but can't decide whether to order it now with a 20% off coupon or wait until next week to use my gymbucks, but then I am afraid some of it might be sold out. Hummm...
I loved the Ergo, but we really wanted to get something that would work a little longer for DD1 and still be usable for the baby later (<---how I talked DH into spending money on this ), and Boba seemed like it had the most practical span. With DD1, I tried mei tais and Mobys and pouch slings and was about to give up in despair until I found a Maya ring sling at a consignment shop for $20. She lived in that thing for the first 6 months, and it made life sooooo easy...I even nursed her in it while running through an airport to make a connection at 2 months old I am hoping this baby will be a little more versatile (the problem was that she hated being carried upright/parent facing, but I could do a good cradle hold in the Maya) but I still think the RS is the best carrier for newborns, once you get past the slight learning curve. It's just so easy to get on and off quickly, but also is more supportive than the structured carriers until they're big enough to hold themselves up some.
You know you COULD always sell some of the carriers you don't use as much and put the money toward a new one, if you wanted....
Yes--there's a babywearing swap page on FB that is very active. It's a closed group, but I think that's just to keep out spammers...I could add you if you want
There's also always craigslist!
I went to a friends house last week and cam back with a surprise car load of stuff. So SO thankful. I'm borrowing her car capsule that fits onto my pram, and she gave us a large play mat, a smaller play/activity mat, bumbo with strap and tray, large play pen, exercauser thingy. Maybe some more things that I can't recall at the moment.
I did buy some little onesie/suit things just for the first week until we know if it's a boy of a girl. Getting a smidge excited now, but still, like earlier, feeling a little reserved.
