things for baby
What do you have? Since I think we've all done this before, is there anything you need?
I haven't done a cold weather baby since DS1 so I have to find some things like the cold weather cover for the carseat. But given that the doc thinks it's another boy I really don't need anything. But it's hard not to get things. Or make things. I've been trying to focus on the making because it's so satisfying.
I've been crocheting a few of these for baby's first couple of weeks. I hope they'll be easier than receiving blankets. The model is the boys' newborn size baby doll (the doll was the exact same size as DS3 when we brought him home).
And my CD stash has a huge gap. We've never CDed new babies. It didn't seem worth the cost of the diapers because my boys have all grown very quickly. Then I found a pattern, and had some scraps of material from something I made a while ago... and oh dear. I'm going to have to find time to make it to a store to get more material and this little guy is going to have a full set of newborn diapers by the time he comes. :D This was the first I made. Normally they won't have the seam down the front, but... it's what I could do with the scraps.
We just need some baby clothes and a new mattress for the cot. I think that's about it really.
Cute! I'm getting a different swing and some new clothes here and there. I'm going to do the nursery a new theme too soo I still get to shop lots. Oh and of course all new bottles.
I'm really reluctant to buy anything until we know what we're having, not because I'm a big pink/blue person but because we won't need much at all if it's a girl but we'll need more if it's a boy! I'm also waiting to see what I can expect to get from my BFF, whose baby will be 13 months by my due date. I'll get my pump through health insurance and I still have baby carriers, the crib, a pack n play, etc. and even DD's car seats since she's in those big 3-in-1s now, so we really don't need much at all except clothes IF it's a boy. I still have my newborn and small cloth diapers (mostly PFs) although I may need some new covers--again, have to see what I can get from BFF before investing.
The big thing we'll need is actually a new bed for DD (and I'm thinking ahead to just going ahead with bunk beds now, maybe...) so we can have the crib back (right now it's in its toddler bed state). We also need a little dresser for the changing pad/baby's basic clothes and PJ's for our room. We sidecarred the crib to our bed for a year with DD and I plan to do the same with Baby 2, but we had her dresser/changing station in her own room. Now that she sleeps in there, I don't want to have to disturb her all the time with diaper changes, so I need a solution for OUR room instead.
We really don't need much of anything either. I think we'll get a new carseat/stroller system as we've used the old one with the last two kids and a friend is now borrowing it and it is starting to look quite worn. I will also probably get some new newborn sized CDs, just for the heck of it. ;) That is probably about it. If we have a boy, we may need a few more boyish newborn size outfits too... We really have TOO MANY toys and TOO MUCH baby gear from the other three. I probably just need to sort through it and get rid of some things before the new baby gets here.
pico83.... those are great baby things you've made.
If we have a boy, I want to embroider some ties onto onesies and knit some boyish booties/hats as DS1 was born in February and we didn't need much winter stuff for him. I have some fun ideas pinned on Pinterest! ;)
Wow those are awesome!! I can't find the time to get "baby crafty" these days, otherwise I'd take a shot at that cloth diaper! That is so cool!
We won't be buying much. We don't have room for much! A new bucket car seat, a new bath tub, and I'd like a new diaper bag. I think that's it. If it's a girl I'll be having some fun at the local consignment shops for sure!
Here's the diaper bag I think I might get:
Sashay Satchel in Daydreaming in Dax - Satchels - Bags
Or this one!
Boxy Backpack in Daydreaming in Dax - Backpacks - Bags
Can I make a diaper bag suggestion? It's not as cute, but it's been amazing since I got it when #3 was about 9 months
It has a built in carrier, which I wouldn't want to use all the time, but it's great for when you forget a stroller or carrier or the littlest just has to be held for some reason. It also has tons of room. It's cheaper on Amazon and sometimes shows up on babyhalfoff or babysteals.
That's really cool! I like the idea of the built in carrier. We usually keep the Ergo in the car for that very reason. I really want a backpack diaper bag because otherwise it gets in the way. I always have had hand me down bags and I really want to splurge this time around. Thanks for the tip!
