2nd birthdays

I know this might still be too early..or you may have already addressed this in the chat thread (i can't always keep up with that one but i try) but... are you planning on a party/big celebration for the second birthdays coming up?

I am not feeling the idea of another large party like we had for his first but on the other hand I would like something...

whats everyone's plans?

we'll have a medium sized party (20-30 people?) at our house. It will be tight like last year but we'll manage! Planning a Penguin theme! Smile

Rowan and Teagan will be having a joint party. And since Erin is working on her exam this month, she was foolish enough to allow me to plan it, so it will be an over-the-top ridiculous party. But that's mostly because I really like throwing parties and rarely have the opportunity to do so.

No party. We'll just do something as a small family. I will bake him a cake from scratch again. Maybe something Elmo related? I already have all of his gifts, just need to wrap them! I might (depending on how I'm feeling and such) ask my SIL's family to join us for a meal and present opening since they're just an hour away.

We did this last month. I invited Teagan and Rowan and one other family we know with a 3yo and a baby. Oh, and my pregnant BFF. Rowan couldn't come so it was just the three kids (including Adair) and a baby, and four couples total. Pool/BBQ, theme was circus animals (they had some cute stuff at Target). It was perfect...casual and chill but she felt like she had a BIRTHDAY PARTY.

we are going to have immediate family for now until he can start enjoying his parties. even with immediate family that is around 20 people so it pretty much is a party.

I'm thinking a cars theme, not neccessarily the movie, but just in general. He has never seen the movie but he really likes the toys. He is also showing interest in toy story but i don't think i can go there cake wise lol.

We'll do a small, family gathering at our house this year. Only one family showed up last year to her party and the rest of the people were DH's family. I'll bake her a cake and it's apparently going to be music themed. If I wasn't such a loser I might have more friends and more people to invite, but luckily she's still little enough that the family will be plenty of fun for her.

Not got anything planned. I'm going to make him a cake which he is going to love but not got a party planned. DS1 will be at school anyway. Might take them out for a meal. We'll visit people over the weekend and pick up his presents. We aren't massive on parties in our family anyway so he won't be missing out. Anyway, I'd imagine DS1 will ask for a party this year as loads of his friends have had them and we can't really afford 2 parties lol

Ronin won't get another big party until he starts school, but because I am planning a cake that will way over feed us this one minus the carraiges, I may invite some of his day care friends to go feed the ducks and have cake.

That'll be super cute Wendy!

Mel, your idea of a "medium party" is my idea of a LARGE party! Ha ha. I felt that Aiden's 1st birthday party was huge last year - we had it at my parents' house in mid November and like 20 people made an appearance. Kid got way too much junk.

Ha, I agree with you Jackie--that sounds like a big party to me!!!

Adair is obsessed with the idea of birthday parties, but as long as she has cake, balloons, and someone to play with, that's about all it takes to make her happy. So I just invited the people with kids who WE wanted to hang out with Smile It would have been family too, but all of her cousins were out of town, and I did want her to have at least a couple of friends to play with. Her first birthday was all adults. Fine at the time, but not so fun now.

Ha! 20 people is a smallish party to me. But then we had about 50 people at Rowan's first b-day (Dh started on the "if I invite this person from work, then I have to invite this person, but then I have to invite these two people, but then..."). This time I'm limiting the number of co-workers.

Edited to add: And the theme is Rainbows!

I am also wanting to do a rainbow theme if I throw a party for dd. I really want to make a rainbow cake and rainbow tutu and I have tons of cute ideas pinned that I would love to do. I don't know if I will have the time/energy though because my dd and my mom share their birthday and we will be traveling out of town to help throw a 60th party for her, so that would mean I would have to do another party for dd the following weekend. Not sure I can handle two parties back to back like that.

We've just started thinking about the party. It will still be family like last year (around 20ish, maybe not that many). I'm not sure of the theme yet. I guess I better get on it.

LOL! Well it's grandpa, my sister, DH's sister, and five close friends (10 adults) and their kids. I guess we have too many close friends with kids! Smile

As far as presents go, we just don't buy anything other than Christmas and birthdays so yes, we have too many toys, but we cycle them in and out in buckets that stay in the basement so it works okay!

Love the Rainbow, Cars and Fall/Pumpkin theme ideas! Wish I could do a Fall theme, but since Livy was born Dec 5th, doesn't work so much! LOL She's really into penguins though so that is what I'm going with! We have 5 stuffed penguins ATM! Smile

I'm so lucky to have a friend to plan a ridiculous over the top party for Teagan.

Addy's birthday party was great. So chill and the kids had a BLAST.

We are excited for rainbows too! At least now when Adair insists "My cake is coming!" (...every time she sees a cake, a picture of a cake, hears someone say the word "party", etc.) I can say "No...but Rowan and Teagan's is!" Smile
