7 month weight check

I took Ronin back for his weight check yesterday. He put on just over 300g (10.5oz) in a month and looks like he is now following the 25th percentile curve. I have to take him back again next month to be monitored again. They told me he should be on three meals a day which we have only just moved up to in the last day or so. I have started sending him finger foods to daycare so that if he wants he can sit up with the other kids at afternoon snack time and mush his finger food around while they eat because he had chucked a tantrum the other day when they had afternoon tea and he didn't. I have him have breakfast there at daycare for his 9am morning tea, lunch and then a little something at dinner. It also looks like I will have to move him up to the next size of clothing his fluffy butt is getting in the way. He also has crazy nappy rash which came on between his first nappy change and him pooping at child health, but the nurse said it looks like he might be getting ready to cut some teeth and their urine can often become quite harsh during that process.

I also had him sleep in his own room last night for the first stretch, he did about 2 hours before he woke up screaming, but it had also gotten a bit cool, but he did it. I am trying a children's sleep liquid at the moment because I think a lot of his problem on getting to sleep might be he has trouble winding down and relaxing, hubby and I both have the same troubles sometimes, and Ronin hates thinking he will miss anything so it makes sense he keeps himself keyed up and has trouble relaxing once he is tired.

Yay for growth and needing to go up a clothing size! 2 hours in his crib is a great start. Sometimes that's all Aiden does. I wish he's always sleep longer in there, but you gotta take what you can get sometimes.

(And he's eating real food a ton more than Aiden. I seriously doubt in a month Aiden will be eating that much. lol)

He vdoesn't eat a lot, 1 oz or so at lunch, 1/2 oz plus a cereal at breakfast and a couple of bits of finger food, none of which he really eats just smooshes about and throws on the floor.

Simon doesnt usually eat alot either and he has problems drinking, and his weight is still going up. I wouldnt worry about not eating tons of solid foods yet. As long as he is gaining he's good. Smile

I found this while looking up breastpumps. If you scroll to the bottom it says that after 6 months of age, bf babies gain roughly 1/2 pound per month, so 10.5 ounces is great!

WTG Ronin! That's excellent weight gain! Baby "meals" totally still count if 98% of it winds up on the floor. We offer 3 times per day most days. My dogs are loving the frequent treats ;). Congrats on moving him to his room. Teagan is still in our room but the desire to move her is growing. I have a feeling she'll (and therefore, I'll) sleep better but the idea of getting out of bed and going all the wall across the hall (it's like 15 feet at least) to grab her in the middle of the night still has me worried.

That's still a lot of food. ha ha. Aiden only got purees twice this week. I'm thinking baby led weaning is the way to go with him because he wants to feed himself and this puree business with a spoon is awful. Today he got butternut squash in my hair!

I really need to start lunch. We are still only on breakfast and dinner and I can tell he's crying out for more food. DS1 was already on 3 meals +snacks by now. About a month after starting solids he stopped having milk (would not take any however much I tried) so he was eating loads.

Anyway...yay for the weight gain Smile
