9 month appt: Lyla

She's 29 inches long, her head is 18 1/2 inches, she weighs 19lb 13oz. She only gained 1lb 5oz since her 6 month appointment. The pedi said she wasn't worried about it, but then referenced back to it 3 times and said that we'd check it again in 3 months and keep an eye on her weight. . . :dontknow:

She said Lyla is in the 90th percentile for height.

Lyla was playing on the floor near this low shelf where they keep a bunch of toys. I was watching her and she started crying really hard right before the doc came in. I picked her up and looked her over but couldn't see anything. The doc came in and immediately saw the bright red mark on her leg where she'd hurt herself. Sad I have no idea how she did it. It's ugly, and her worst injury to date.

I think Lyla is the perfect size! A pound gained is a pound gained. She's pretty tall too! Kids have an amazing ability to make us look bad. Look at it this way, if a red mark is the worst injury to date, you're doing an awesome job! Teagan's had her fair share of bruises and bloody lips. It just comes with the territory of having wobbly baby legs. Gosh, just wait until they are like 4 and come running into the house with all sorts of gashes.

With all the moving they are doing, it's kind of expected that they don't gain as much weight now. She sounds great to me!

When DD1 was a baby she was throwing a fit once, I looked and looked and could not figure out what was wrong with her. Then her dad looked her over and found the problem. One of my hairs had wrapped around her toe and it was turning purple (her toe, not the hair Smile ). I felt terrible. But fast forward 13 years and 2 more kids later. DS looks like a battered child and I haven't the faintest idea where he got 99% of the bruises on him. He wiped out on the tile floor yesterday and all I could think to say was "Safe!" (he came sliding in head first).

oh poor girl. i hate when they get hurt!!

her measurements are almost exactly the same as Lucas. 19 pounds, 28.5 inches, don't know his head. My Ped never mentioned his weight and i think he was around 17.5 at 6 months. darn Doctors

Sounds like she is doing great! Growth slows way down at this point, especially if they are moving around a lot. Poor little leg getting hurt.

My mom said that happened to her & me as a baby too. She was like "you just kept crying and I couldn't tell why until I took your footed PJ's off".

One time DS1 was getting hysterical and I couldn't calm him down I phoned the doc and the first thing they asked was to check and see if any hairs were wrapped around his penis  (it ended up being teething pain)

And Lyla is doing great. She won't gain much weight if she's tall...she's got to keep getting taller, no time to get chunky Smile

Seems like she is doing wonderful! So weird how they would find her weight be concerning but not concerning.. Sorry about her booboo!

19lbs for a 9 month old baby seems very healthy to me.. Most babies hit 20 at a year..

I don't even attempt anymore to figure out where all of Aiden's injuries are from! lol. And they're also supposed to really slow down weight gain at this point. Aiden has gained, but not much at all. He's been in the same rompers for 3 months now which is by far the longest he's stayed in any clothing size! I'd say it was a GREAT appointment!!! Smile

YAAAAA for a great appt!! Smile Lyla stats are like almost the same as Sophie's - so I wouldn't worry at all... Our Doc & the nurses said her weight was fine, she just looks skinnier because of how tall she already is Smile Look at it this way, she was born to be a model Blum 3

I wouldn't worry about it: Rowan had about the same weight gain between her 6 and 9 month appointments. I asked the doctor about it because it concerned me. My doc said that they don't gain weight at as fast a rate at this stage, especially since they are more active, and as long as she is more or less following along the curve, she's fine.

When Ronin was going for monthy weight checks because of the percentile drop I was told at his check at 8 months (we don't have 9 month appts here, if there is nothing wrong they don't get seen between 6 and 12 months) that they look for a weight gain between 3oz and 4oz (these are rough estimates seeing as we use metric here) a week as a healthy weight gain.
