She's 29 inches long, her head is 18 1/2 inches, she weighs 19lb 13oz. She only gained 1lb 5oz since her 6 month appointment. The pedi said she wasn't worried about it, but then referenced back to it 3 times and said that we'd check it again in 3 months and keep an eye on her weight. . .
She said Lyla is in the 90th percentile for height.
Lyla was playing on the floor near this low shelf where they keep a bunch of toys. I was watching her and she started crying really hard right before the doc came in. I picked her up and looked her over but couldn't see anything. The doc came in and immediately saw the bright red mark on her leg where she'd hurt herself. I have no idea how she did it. It's ugly, and her worst injury to date.
I think Lyla is the perfect size! A pound gained is a pound gained. She's pretty tall too! Kids have an amazing ability to make us look bad. Look at it this way, if a red mark is the worst injury to date, you're doing an awesome job! Teagan's had her fair share of bruises and bloody lips. It just comes with the territory of having wobbly baby legs. Gosh, just wait until they are like 4 and come running into the house with all sorts of gashes.
Sounds like she is doing great!
When DD1 was a baby she was throwing a fit once, I looked and looked and could not figure out what was wrong with her. Then her dad looked her over and found the problem. One of my hairs had wrapped around her toe and it was turning purple (her toe, not the hair ). I felt terrible. But fast forward 13 years and 2 more kids later. DS looks like a battered child and I haven't the faintest idea where he got 99% of the bruises on him. He wiped out on the tile floor yesterday and all I could think to say was "Safe!" (he came sliding in head first).
Sounds like she is doing great! Growth slows way down at this point, especially if they are moving around a lot. Poor little leg getting hurt.
~Joy~ DS1-8/5/05, DS2-10/18/10 (VBAC#1), DS3- 4/11/12 (VBAC#2!)
One time DS1 was getting hysterical and I couldn't calm him down I phoned the doc and the first thing they asked was to check and see if any hairs were wrapped around his penis (it ended up being teething pain)
And Lyla is doing great. She won't gain much weight if she's tall...she's got to keep getting taller, no time to get chunky
